2 of DH's colleagues have ended up stranded in the UK as their flights home have been cancelled. They will both be alone in hotels

We would like to send something to let them know that we are thinking of them at this shitty time but they are not local and he's doesn't know them well.
Neither drink
Both late 20s, early 30s
Need to be able to send from Amazon prime and would like it to arrive so that they have something to open on Xmas day.

Any ideas would be amazing.

Thanks

Small cheap hamper so they have nice food?

Wigglegiggle0520 · 22/12/2020 18:27

Book and chocs?

Ginkpin · 22/12/2020 18:31

Sounds a bit daft but what about a nice candle, some chocolate and slipper socks, so they can feel a bit cosy/Christmassy.

MrsLeclerc · 22/12/2020 18:31

That’s really thoughtful of you. If I were stranded in a hotel for Christmas I’d appreciate treat food or entertainment.
Maybe a snack/treat hamper £15 arrives tomorrow.

Perhaps a deck of cards or a jigsaw for fun?

Good luck OP.

PenguinsCantFly · 22/12/2020 18:32

Some nice snacks or maybe something to make?

Amazon sell cute wooden craft kits that would give them something to do? (Woodcraft Construction Kits)

Or a puzzle Smile

Dyrne · 22/12/2020 18:34

Christmas jumper? There’s a few on Amazon and have Prime delivery.

It’s very thoughtful of you OP - to be honest I think anything would be very much appreciated by them!

CupoTeap · 22/12/2020 18:36

Nice chocs, cards, or biscuits

Bubblebox · 22/12/2020 18:36

Sorry I meant to add. Both male. One European and one from the middle East.

Some great ideas but not all available on prime.

Interesting non-fiction book on a topic of their interests. Or a biography?

Are they in the same hotel. Maybe a board game they could play together? Something to pass the time basically.

This is fantastically thoughtful, OP.

Bubblebox · 22/12/2020 18:44

Different cities unfortunately or a board game could have been good.
It's quite a laddy industry so some of the suggestions that I think are great, DH thinks would be weird coming from him.

Decent instant coffee and a book? Maybe a comedian's book? Romesh Ranganathan's books get good reviews - his latest one is on my wish list 😁

Clymene · 22/12/2020 18:55

Book and a really nice snacks thing? Cheese and biscuits? Biltong?

MergeDragons · 22/12/2020 19:01

lego sets

Ginkpin · 22/12/2020 19:05

oh ok. Just saw the bit about being a bit laddish.

If you go to Amazon and search 'Gifts for men' and select 'PRIME' - there are zillions of things available.

Thedarknightsaredrawingin · 22/12/2020 19:22

London craft beer
Retro sweets
Lots on prime

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 22/12/2020 19:33

Puzzle book - Sudoku? Bletchley Park Brainteasers? Quiz book?

missymoomoomoomoomoo · 22/12/2020 20:16

Bottles of vodka

Gingerkittykat · 22/12/2020 20:51

A solitaire game.
A Rubiks cube.
Some gourmet popcorn or pork scratchings.

Bubblebox · 22/12/2020 21:20

Thank you for all of the ideas. We've had a chance of ideas and are going to send some deliveroo vouchers with a list of local takeaways that are open on Christmas day in their area instead of a gift.
It's likely that the lads are a bit shirt of money as they send most of their wages home so at least this way they will get something nice to eat on Christmas day.
It's so rubbish for them. One was sat in the departure lounge when his flight was cancelled. Sad

That’s such a lovely thing to do @Bubblebox

Friendsoneuptown · 23/12/2020 07:18

That’s a great idea to send deliveroo vouchers. Such a shame for both of them. Puts a lot into perspective. I’d be miserable on my own in a hotel on Christmas Day.

bookish83 · 23/12/2020 07:24

Comedian book depending on what could suit. The one suggested above is great! As is Joe Lycett

Hotel chocolat or tony chocoloney chocs

Something like an individual puzzle

Some nice drink like good cordial for the room

You are really kind to be doing this xxx
