Playstation set up question

Kids have got one for xmas (to share). I want to get playstation plus membership but I'm unsure whether it needs to be in one of their names or in my name? And if I put it in one child's name and the other one wants to play, do they have to use the same account?

I've set up a playstation account for me and I know I can set up child accounts for them. But I don't want to set it up and cause problems down the line. Help!

On the PS4 if you set up an account for yourself and have you as the main account holder on the console (it will be your primary console) then any other users on the same console can share some of the benefits of PS Plus such as online multiplayer and digital games. So I'd set you up as the main account, buy PS Plus and then have both your DC have their own accounts. Children's accounts will be locked to age appropriate stuff as well so bear that in mind when putting their ages in. Presumably it works the same if you have a PS5 but I don't have experience of that. Great idea to set it all up and download any games before Christmas day.

Thank you! That sounds like a good plan. I'm not likely to have time to do all the setting up beforehand (still have most of my wrapping to do and the kids are around due to lockdown... )
