Fortnum & Mason issues?

Just wondering if anybody else is having issues with Fortnum & Mason. It’s the first time I have ever ordered from them and I expected given their name and prestige that the service would be perfect. I ordered three weeks ago with named day delivery for Saturday 19th. My order isn’t showing in the online account section so I emailed on the 18th and was assured that it was picked and packed, ready for collection and would be arriving on the 19th. It didn’t. I called on the 19th and was told it would go out that night. Very odd phone call, the adviser left long awkward silences. I thanked her and then nothing- just silence- until I said ‘okay thank you bye’ to which she just said bye. I don’t know but I just expected a bit more courtesy in the call and this got my alarm bells ringing that maybe the service isn’t what I expected it would be, as it was a very strange awkward phone call. No apology for the delay, I wasn’t ranting as at that point I still believed them that it would be dispatched, so she told it was going that evening, I said thank you, then silence. Strange. Anyway, it’s now Monday. I have a tracking number but it hasn’t been scanned as collected, it says they are still waiting for the parcel. The courier has not collected the parcel and I know this courier has no delays despite the volume. I have contacted Fortnum and masons again today and been told I will have to wait 48 hours for a reply from their warehouse team. Obviously I can’t wait that long and now have no idea what gift I can get delivered in this time frame that will be equally special. First time ordering from them and looking like it will be the last.
Anybody else having problems? Their trust pilot looks pretty awful this past week.

I don’t rate fortnum and masons online deliveries.

They always miss something out/deliver late, I think they figure the recipients won’t know what was ordered and send incomplete orders. I’ve had to chase them previously to fulfil orders properly.

I’d only buy from them if I could physically get to a shop. They rely heavily on the prestige of their brand name.

@frazzledasarock that is what I am finding now. A lot of the recent reviews say the same as you, items not in the hampers that should be or completely different lesser value hampers delivered. If it turns up I will be asking for a photo so I can check it. I’m really disappointed as I thought I was buying a good friend and her DH a nice gift.
