Right, DP has just informed me that he adores Christmas cake, personally I cant stand the stuff, but as it is our first Christmas together I am going to make him one.

Can anyone suggest a good recipe for a smallish one, also when do have to make it? Am I too late already?

Help please

Hi,

Look I am sure I will get shot down by this. But I normally make my Xmas cake in septemember feed it through untill around now. Then mazipan, followed by icing in dec.

Bigger is always better as they cook and maintain their moisture.

2 suggestions. Buy a good one, (will probably cost less than making it) and ice or decorate your self. That way you can claim the credit.

Does he love his mums? Could she knock you one up?

I make 7 xmas cakes a year. I would offer you one but I'm short of one myself this year

I seem to remember that M and S did a really good one! But I can't find it on their website.

Or you could try this waitrose Sorry you will have to click on bakery and tehn cakes !!

Hope that helps
