So, seeing family isn’t happening and the dc are disappointed, as am I.
Give me hope for a Christmas beyond 2020 expectations please! Or suggestions to help me raise the bar?

Sorry. Can’t help but just want to say I feel the same 🥲

I’m letting the kids have their dream really, they don’t need to get dressed or brush their hair. They can eat whatever chocolate/crap they want, they won’t be forced to have a roast if they don’t want it and we are going to play games and watch films all day and drink champagne at breakfast. No stress, no having to go anywhere or make small talk. I cried earlier but now just going to make the most of it and try to think on the bright side.

Also thinking about all of the amazing parties and hugs with loved ones that are going to be so much more special next year.

Have a lovely Christmas Xmas Smile

Thanks @IHateThesePosts, I need to get to where you are. That helps. Happy Christmas.

@Becsim
Glad it’s not just me and hope we can both move on in time!

I'm trying hard to look on the bright side, luckily my children are young so will be excited just by presents and Father Christmas having visited, which helps. We are usually travelling round at Christmas so I'm trying to think of it as an opportunity to enjoy a rest....not having to do anything or go anywhere, I'm going to eat and drink what I like and just laze around which I never do. Maybe there are things that come from being forced into having a quieter Christmas, like realising we don't have to always be racing around, and truly appreciating friends and family...the important things.

Howmanysleepsnow · 19/12/2020 22:19

@CarolinaWeeper we don’t normally travel on the day, so actual Christmas isn’t much different (though my DP alternate coming to us/ DSis... it was her turn this year).
We’d normally see DP and DSis Boxing Day, and DC and I were looking forward to it more than usual as dc haven’t seen them this year except from the end of the drive (it’d usually be around 10-12 times by now)

Think this may be a very up and down week for most, as yes Christmas isn’t actually cancelled just everything we would like to do is and we can still have Christmas in our own households and with some guests if not in tier 4 but the dramas and changes of today have seriously poured cold water over it, I have a lot of wrapping still to do and currently I can’t face doing it and just feeling like there’s no point

Howmanysleepsnow · 19/12/2020 23:40

@Hophop26 I was meant to wrap tonight. Normally it gets me in the Christmas spirit, but I couldn’t face it.

We dont usually go anywhere anyway so isnt making a difference to us. We weren't going to be having any family over anyway this year as my mum who usually comes has moved away.

I guess all you can do is not make a big deal of it being different. Xmas is still happening, get the music or movies on & have a laugh

We're not doing a roast, my kids LOVE a buffet so we're doing that instead. We'll spend the day in PJs, eating, drinking & having fun.

Howmanysleepsnow · 20/12/2020 21:54

Well, we’ve been out to watch a convoy of tractors covered in fairy lights/ snowmen/ trees. That’s helped a lot.
