Just as it says in the title. Looking for a stocking filler for 16 year old DS. Does anyone have any book recommendations they would be kind enough to share?

How about 'humans of new York' it's full of bite size stories about people's lives.
Literally a couple of paragraphs so he can just dip in and out if he feels like it.

Does he like war themes (e.g. Alaistair Maclean, Frederick Forsyth, Jack Higgins)? Or Robert Harris?
Fantasy/science fiction - Leigh Bardugo?
Non-fiction - Prisoners of Geography, Factfulness, Freakonomics?
Tolkein, Hitchhikers guide...

How not to be a boy by Robert Webb (guy from the peep show) is a great book - my nephew loved it. Very funny and relatable book which also covers lots of important things like death, sexuality, relationships etc.

I wouldn't bother
Would you buy them a football if they hated football ?
Don't push reading....they'll go back to it if and when they want to

Op's DS specifically asked. This thread is trying to give suggestions he might be tempted by.

I got DS (15) a book by his favourite comedian

And DS (18) who does not read either, the Strange Planet part 2 book

Just some stocking fillers

Need to have a book in the stockings Grin

My nearly 16yo doesn't find time to read (spends too much time working for his GCSEs and gaming) but I have bought him some cook books - he enjoys cooking and baking as a break from school work, but also he enjoys reading the cookbooks too. Just an alternative suggestion?

Matt Haig's The Humans is a brilliant book which I think might appeal. Ive put it on DS1's reading list.

Why waste your money? In fact, just give him money.

Yes Hasa The Midnight Library is just as good, and a very easy read.

You'll love it:)

I just bought DA 17 the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I tried looking at YA novels, but all the new ones seemed a bit weird and formulaic.

I'm getting m some ideas from this thread tooGrin
