I've been seeing my personal trainer for years, I know his family, he lives in the next village, but we're not close IYSWIM? Professionally distant.

He and his family have had a tough year with the restrictions, having to stop working and losing another different income stream for the whole time. I'd like to get him a slightly more special gift than a bottle of wine or box of chocs.

They've moved into a new house this year, done tonnes of work to it, garden is still a project. I did think about perhaps a lovely potted plant that could then be planted out when they're ready? Or a load of veg seeds to start a veg patch (he did mention looking forward to doing this with his children)? Maybe a fruit tree? Has anyone got any ideas that would fit around this? Or something else?

Budget up to £30.

How about paying double rates for your last lesson, as a Christmas bonus? Not a 'lovely' as handing over something but I'm sure it would be welcome.

Thanks FinallyHere. I pay in blocks on 10, I did think about it, putting some cash in a card, but it doesn't really appeal. But I'd probably prefer that than a gift voucher.

I did find this which I thought was quite sweet (lots of options on this website for plants too): www.glut.co.uk/products/the-pink-and-blueberry-gift-box

I think paying double is a great idea
Feels more like a great tip and definitely doesn’t cross any lines / need you to know him well.
And it may mean they can allocate that money to some luxury treats at Christmas so things feel a bit more ‘normal’ if they’re struggling for cash.

Alternatively I’d look at a little hamper of lots of little things they can enjoy, everyone loves a hamper and there’s no pressure on any one gift from it
