Christmas cake first made in the 16th century. Traditionally eaten at tea time on Christmas Day. Celebration of Christmas Day being the 1st day after advent fasting. Eaten until 12th night. Traditionally a slice of Wensleydale cheese is served with the cake. Try it !!! It's a 500 year old English Tradition !!! Happy Christmas

That’s lovely.
We never cut into our Christmas cake until Christmas evening and we always have it after cheese (love Wensleydale with orange and cranberry) and cracker but I never knew about this tradition.

My mother made the best. Hard to eat other as they do not nearly match it! She died 5 years ago and hadn't made it for some time before but I can still taste it.

Hello again, Mince Pies, eat one each evening from Christmas Day, to 12th night then ....... My Grandma told me...... You will have the next 12 months of Joy !!!!! Grandma was a Farmer's wife, with ,8 children and worked every day of her life as a friend and confident to all. 4' 10" tall and I adored the very bones of her. Let's hope the 12 mince pies work fingers crossed. We could all do with 2021 being full of joy for all people whoever and wherever you are.

My husband always has Stilton with his slice of Christmas cake!

We normally cut into our cake on Christmas Eve teatime.

Oh dear, we’re supposed to fast during Advent? Haven’t done much fasting here and have already eaten a couple of mince pies.🤣 We’ve held off on the Christmas cake as I’ve only just decorated it....not sure whether we can make it until Christmas Day, though.🤣
