Artificial Christmas Tree

Are there any decent artificial Christmas trees (within £40-50) out there??
The bare branches of my tree seem more glaringly obvious and I don’t know why but it’s bothering me a lot!

I’m thinking of hitting the sales post Christmas and getting a tree ready for next year 😬

What I want is (I don’t know any specific tree names) an artificial tree that is dark green in colour and with branches that actually bloody fill out the tree! The pictures always look completely different to what is in the box.

Has anybody actually found a tree that matches my description above??

Please do help!

Thank you

We got a Balsam Hill one this year and it's actually great. Yes it was pricey at £200 for a 7ft one but I plan to use it for 15-20 years. It's proper bushy and has three branch textures and colours, so it looks more natural than your bog standard artificial tree. They're usually better reduced in the NY so would definitely recommend taking a look then.

@HunkyDory69 I know right! So disappointing to see/read! I’m not sure I can justify spending £100s on a tree that’s only out for a month in a year either

Thanks @TheCraicDealer. Was this online?
Any chance of a pic? Or product link if you don’t want to share please? Thank you

I am happy with my little tree (4ft) that I got in Poundstretcher for £5.99 last year. It is basic, but once the lights are on, it does the job.

I hope you find one you are happy with too.

Cluelessgift · 10/12/2020 23:05

I got one from IKEA last year, I presume they’ll do the same ones this year
The branches are different textures, the centre is brown, it looks a bit higher quality
Honestly it’s the least ‘tacky/plastic’ looking artificial tree I’ve seen, except for those ones that cost hundreds. I love it and people always comment that it’s lovely

And it’s super easy to put together. I think it cost about £40

I also saw after Christmas that M&S were selling expensive trees off for £7 last year!! Almost bought another one!

Cluelessgift · 10/12/2020 23:07

Just realised ‘the centre is brown’ is a weird thing to say...

But I mean it’s not that shiny green plastic !

Definitely worth having a look at their trees I’d say!

TheCraicDealer · 10/12/2020 23:19

All my daylight photos of it have a little photobomber in them, sorry!

Tesco fake tree is not bad. The trick is to fluff the stems. Like really work on it. Do you have Netflix? Have a look at the Mr Christmas show, you'll see what I mean.

1000umbrellas · 10/12/2020 23:23

B&Q have tinsel that's Christmas tree coloured (matte green rather than shiny); you could use a couple of lengths of that to pad yours out.

PontiacBandit · 10/12/2020 23:27

I've filled out our tree with green tinsel wrapped round the trunk.

GuyFawkesDay · 10/12/2020 23:30

I've got a homebase one. The Norwegian spruce. It looks great, needs fluffiing and isn't mega thick but i wanted one that looked passably real

Asda 6ft snow effect tree £35. It's really lovely and full

tywysoges · 10/12/2020 23:36

I have an older version of this one - mine is pre-lit, not sure this one is. It’s pretty decent, DD’s assembled it this year and didn’t fluff it up to the max so it’s looking a bit gappier than I would have liked but I love it.

Here’s mine from Wilco

Have a look on Christmas Tree World. Good quality and much cheaper than Balsam Hill.
I got the 8ft Ultra Mountain Pine. Mainly for the more natural shape.

My Homebase tree is lovely but 3x your budget

TrickyD · 12/12/2020 06:57

I agree with MistyGreenAndBlue. Christmas Tree World are brilliant. As good as Balsam Hill but much cheaper and very nice people to deal with.

Slipper2 · 12/12/2020 08:23

I can also recommend Christmas Tree World. We got a 7ft pencillimo (slim) tree as have high ceilings but little floor space. It's the most we've ever spent on an artificial tree but so worth it. Tons and tons of branches and the tips are shaped which looks much nicer.
