Hiding presents!

So I'm basically just wondering where you all hide the kids presents? My DS has Christmas then his birthday on the 28th.
This year I've two massive boxes one for birthday one for Christmas they're fine taped up but he's only 4 so next year I may not get away with this😂

Suitcases. Grin

Mumdiva99 · 09/12/2020 12:08

I have 3 kids - 2 have birthdays in december - one at the start and one on 24th. So I totally get you.

The loft is my friend. It all goes up there and then I get it down. In our old house I had to wrap it and put it back up.

Here there is a little more space - although last year I just put it all in a pile in the corner of the bedroom with a blanket over it.....i was waiting for the kids to say something (and had strategically put all their friends and family presents on the top) - no one said anything!!

I have no idea where my mum used to hide presents. I never asked and never looked.....

I have also had some hidden in the garage before - again under a large tarpaulin. No one ever asked then either.

Hohomerryxmas · 09/12/2020 13:41

Kept in the brown boxes they were delivered in on top of the wardrobe, if they're not in boxes they're put into black bin bags before going on top of the wardrobe. Things that won't fit on top of the wardrobe gets hidden in my DM's house

ShowOfHands · 09/12/2020 13:47

Sometimes we put them in the roof of the garage but mostly, in boxes in my bedroom firmly sealed with strict instructions not to look. They're 13 and 9 respectively and have never peeked to my knowledge.

livingthegoodlife · 09/12/2020 13:48

Loft. And then on Christmas Eve they all get moved to the garage whilst the kids are out in a strategically planned walk. It's easier to move them from the garage than the loft late at night!

BeaLola · 09/12/2020 13:50

Garage or loft - when wrapped certain ones go under tree ( I have been known to fox DS by putting other labels on his )

AlwaysLatte · 09/12/2020 13:52

We've always put them in the loft but this year we built an extension and added a lockable storage room with racking for things like that, it's been brilliant.

2LittleSpeckledFrogs · 09/12/2020 13:55

We've always put ours in wardrobes but my DD found hers last year. I was devastated.

Startaler · 09/12/2020 13:57

I take mine all to work where I have my own bedroom for on call duties so all my gifts come to work and get wrapped up in work. I'm now slowly bringing them home and I've found the best place to hide them is in the empty Christmas decorations boxes. Bear in mind my dcs are 18,21 and 24 but would love a good rummage for gifts. GDG are hidden in plain sight in unmarked cardboard boxes.

Hope4theBestPlan4theWorst · 09/12/2020 14:05

My lovely neighbour lives on her own and has a 3 bed and her little box room is my storage!! She's very kind and lets me stash the presents there as it's literally an empty room!!

My friend puts hers in suitcases on top of wardrobes x

m4mmy0f0ne · 09/12/2020 14:13

I don't have a garage unfortunately 😂 I live in a tiny 2 bed. We have a big cupboard that we put a little lock on but it's in DS bedroom. The attic is an option but I'd definitely want to wrap before putting them in the attic!!

mummyof2boys30 · 09/12/2020 14:34

Attic or this year at my mums as they having more expensive but smaller gifts. She only lives around corner so handy to get on christmas eve. Some also under bed. I used to search the house for presents when i was a child lol

Stompythedinosaur · 09/12/2020 14:57

We put things in the loft. There are some big items in dm's garage.

TheChosenTwo · 09/12/2020 15:56

Ours go in the workshop at the end of the garden, it’s too hot in our loft eaves because the boiler is up there, chocolate things would melt. They’ll probably be frozen in the workshop but never mind, dh puts them down there and gets them back out.

goose1964 · 09/12/2020 15:58

In my wardrobe but then I've not got many to hide.

Buzlightyear1 · 09/12/2020 16:01

I’ve had to hide them in my room under a blanket I’m unable to get up to the attic and I’ve got a small 2 bed bungalow. My little one will
Be 4 in January. Every time someone knocks with a parcel I tell him it’s for grandma and grandad . Or my neighbours 😂 going to have to give my mum some boxes soon😛🤦‍♀️

CrackersDontMatter · 09/12/2020 16:09

We have an ottoman bed and they go in there.

m4mmy0f0ne · 09/12/2020 16:24

@CrackersDontMatter we're getting an ottoman bed in the new year!! Great idea! I wish we had a proper loft ladder then I could get up into the attic myself 😂

MrJinxyCat · 09/12/2020 16:30

We do exactly the same as livingthegoodlife, loft and then moved to garage on Xmas eve. Too noisy taking down from loft when they are in bed plus it takes ages for them to drift off. Much easier to nip to the garage.

Angel2702 · 09/12/2020 16:33

Storage boxes with lids in the loft then as they are wrapped they go on their named sacks.

Wenchelda · 09/12/2020 22:03

We have an ottoman bed and the children don’t know that it lifts up to reveal a secret hiding place. Everything is under there.

Howmanysleepsnow · 09/12/2020 22:06

Suitcases on top of wardrobe.
Used to use the loft until mice got in and ate the chocolate Santa’s
Car boot for big things
In a bin bag at the bottom of the laundry basket (no one ever sees the bottom of our laundry baskets. And there’s one in each bedroom)

BeckyWithTheGoodHair5629456 · 09/12/2020 22:07

Mostly the loft, or we have an ottoman bed so some under there. Garage if it's something big like a bike.

TheRubyRedshoes · 09/12/2020 22:12

Tucked in an fairly inaccessible part of the bedroom by an ironing board... In a mess of black bin bags and jumble.

Ltdannygreen · 09/12/2020 22:17

Mine are kept in my sisters room, and the boiler room, no one goes in the boiler room so it’s extra space. Stocking presents stay in my wardrobe in a bag inside a bag 😂
