Anyone please? I had one as a kid I made by myself for a few years from a kids' coolest book but no idea what. It was delicious and probably just a chocolate cake and buttercream but I loved it
I'd like a pretty boring one so kid will eat it. Please send me your recipes!

Delia Smith's recipe takes some beating. Try that.

I used to always swear by Nigella’s Buche de Noel until I discovered Mary Berry’s recipe www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/yule_log_15656 which is better.

I was going to recommend Nigella too but I've recently tried a few Mary Berry recipes and they've all been fantastic. So I might try hers this year.

Wildernesstips, that is interesting. I am a Nigella Buche fan so I am wondering in what way Mary B's was better? Hers has flour, Nigella's is a flour free sponge. Was the flavour similar?

I like this one (but I leave the coffee out)

@TrickyD I think it was the faffing about in Nigella’s that made me look for an alternative (and prefer Mary’s). I only make it once a year so can’t remember there being a discernible taste difference. The MB recipe makes tons of topping.

I was coming in to say Delia's too. It's a tradition in our family. It won't look like the picture though Grin, but it's v v v good.

I am looking at this too. I thought it was just a dry cake, but obviously not!
I saw JamieO on the telly last night making a magnificent one. It was something like Keep on Cooking Christmas with JamieO.

Yes!! The Mary Berry one is delicious. I've made it a few times and it is always lovely and well received.

I'd actually like to make a Yule log with a bit of booze inside.
