How does Father Christmas visit Premier Inn?

Apandemicyousay · 05/12/2020 10:27

Just this! We’re off to see MIL for a couple of days at Christmas. To reduce covid risk in small house we’ve decided to stay overnights in premier inn up the road. Was feeling happy with decision until DH pointed out we need to convince a sceptic 6 year old that the Big FC will still make it in. We’ve always been lucky that we & GPs have always had fire places. Pretty sure the premier won’t! Any advice?

With the magic key.
We were on holiday for Christmas last year, he managed to fill their stockings in Italy (plus leave some new pyjamas), and drop the big presents off at our house in England. In your scenario is get him to leave the actual presents at grandparents, and drop off stockings at the hotel room.

KatherineOfGaunt · 05/12/2020 10:31

He has an agreement with the hotel staff to lend him a set of keys but they're sworn to secrecy?

Or he can do it by magic through the window?

BeaLola · 05/12/2020 10:31

You cover it by the 6 year inc it in letter to FC as to where they will be and put address etc in letter ,

You could look online at pics of the PInn and then ask a hopefullyhelpful member of staff whether there is a tree in reception or in dining room and then you can confidently tell 6 year old that you've checked and that's where FC leaves the labelled gifts each year for hotel residents

HotelliFinlandia · 05/12/2020 10:31

Maybe he doesn't? Maybe everything goes to the in-laws and waits for him there?

Alternatively, if you want to go to greater effort, contact the hotel and ask if you can leave gifts at reception the night before and then they call you in the morning at 7am to say there was a visit in the night but he didn't want to get lost in the hotel (or similar).

ElfDragon · 05/12/2020 10:32

I guess he visits the same way as he visits everyone who lives in flats or houses without fireplaces!

In our house, FC comes down the light tube 😂 as we had 2 fireplaces ripped out in renovations/extensions and the remaining one is in a room the dc don’t use often (and not where the tree goes!)

It just takes imagination.

I had the Easter Bunny visit a Premier Inn a few years ago, you just have to be convincing (if you’re set on it).

baubling · 05/12/2020 10:34

He gets the magic key from reception of course.

inappropriateraspberry · 05/12/2020 10:35

Because he's magic. Magic is the answer to all questions about Father Christmas, Elves etc. 😆

Smallsteps88 · 05/12/2020 10:39

He doesn’t need chimneys or keys. Haven’t you ever seen the documentary Santa Claus: the movie? He just magics himself into the room by the sheer power of his thought. He needs milk and cookies to get back out though. Magicking is energy zapping.

RizzleDrizzle · 05/12/2020 10:43

Yes magic key cards, or even just a magic key you can buy in some shops.

Same way as he knew wheee you are when you’re at grand parents he just knows!

meow1989 · 05/12/2020 10:47

We don't have a chimney so I've bought a Christmas themed fairy door. On Christmas eve the father Christmas magic opens it and he comes through it.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 05/12/2020 10:50

Leave the presents in the bathroom and say Santa must have shrunk himself and festively blasted through the enchanted S bend?

RoseZinfandel · 05/12/2020 14:29

Just say you don't know.

Wonder out loud whether he will come to the PI, or if he will leave the presents at home/in laws. Or say he probably won't come, but don't worry, I bet he will leave presents at grandparents.

Then in the morning, act amazed, wow, here are these presents, so he did know you were at the PI, how did he know???!!

stridesy · 05/12/2020 16:12

A fireplace will magically appear ever in the lobby or the room next to the tv.
I guess it’s up to you and your imagination.

Anniemabel · 05/12/2020 16:34

He lands the sleigh on the grass outside and comes through the door, obviously. He actually prefers doing that. Coming down the chimney can be fun but it’s quite tiring.

We have log burners so he can’t come down our chimney, I’m pretty pleased about that because I don’t want him to get soot on the carpet. We leave the backdoor open because we live in the middle of nowhere but if I lived in a town I’d probably get my lock put on the magic key list.

mooncakes · 05/12/2020 16:35

Father Christmas is magic, who knows how it works Confused

TheRubyRedshoes · 05/12/2020 18:04

Because the truth is, we don't really know how he operates, we think he uses chimneys because that's the obvious answer but really, we don't know.

Scarby9 · 05/12/2020 18:06

The same way he visits everywhere else - magic.
You can't explain magic.

ErrolTheDragon · 05/12/2020 18:17

@TheYearOfSmallThings

Leave the presents in the bathroom and say Santa must have shrunk himself and festively blasted through the enchanted S bend?
Up through the overflow pipe might be a bit cleaner and drier. Grin

Tbh the bigger challenge may be how the stocking gifts arrive there without a normally-observant small child spotting them in the car or luggage.

BestZebbie · 05/12/2020 18:58

I'd think he uses the air con...

BoobsOnTheMoon · 05/12/2020 18:59

If you sre visiting on Christmas day can he not leave them there for safekeeping?

VestaTilley · 05/12/2020 19:49

Say he comes through the door using his magic key.

Phone the hotel to prep them prior to arriving and get them to ask if you want them to leave a room key for Santa when he arrives.
Or buy one of those Santa keys which is what we've always done and we hang it on the wee tree at the front door - you could get DS to slip it under the door before he goes to sleep.
I'd personally go for stockings in the room with a letter saying presents are at grandparents. Have fun!
