So managed not to pre order in September. Been looking at all websites at every free moment, only to realise I should have known to order from Argos at 4am yesterday
Any advise on how to get one for Xmas, for a very disappointed 12 year old boy?

I think the only way may be to get alerts from stock informer.

Thank you well that was silly. Do you if anyone's taking pre orders. I've been refreshing the most likely places all day and couldn't see anything.

Most retailers I've signed up for notifications are now just spamming random shit, that I have to read in case it is, in fact, an actual notification

Smyths had some yesterday I think. A friend got one yesterday after spending a few hours refreshing to get in a queue. She'd spent hours on curries and other sites when they've gone with stock before hand. I've a couple of other friends who also managed to get one after a few hours from the second a site has gone live so my advise would be once you do find out when another site may have stock, make sure you have the entire morning/afternoon free to spend refreshing.

My brother has had same problems with the Xbox and even after getting it in his basket and being in a queue for two hours, they'd sold out.

Write him an IOU and get one after Christmas once the madness has died down

Same here OP. I spent an hour in the queue for Game yesterday but it was out of stock by the time I got in. I’ve lost hope of getting one before Christmas.

No good puns, he already has an IOU for his birthday. The present is a joint birthday and x mas present 😟

I managed to get one yesterday from Amazon. I wasted 2 hours trying to check out on the Argos page first (such a waste of time). Luckily I checked the Stock Informer website and refreshed the page a few times and then randomly it showed Amazon stock. Was just lucky though with timing, as it was all sold out again within 3 minutes.

Don’t wait for email notifications. I also signed up for all of the sites and never got any emails through, even though both Argos and Amazon definitely had stock at some point yesterday.

I found Stock Informer rubbish. It never once notified me when stock came in. Neither did a single of the many shops I'd signed it to for stock notifications.

I downloaded an app called HotStock which buzzes my phone as soon as they're in stock, click on it and it takes you straight to the website.
Got one on Smyths last night

Nowhere has dropped any stock since Game did at 10pm yesterday. Even then they only dropped a £750 bundle package.

Argos keeps putting stock up but nobody seems able to buy it.

Keep an eye on Amazon, make sure you're logged in on the app with payment details up to date.

Currys might drop some more, but their site is shite.

Whenever you get on a site it will crash, a lot. Keep refreshing. I got the one in my Smyths basket then it crashed whenever I pressed anything. Must've refreshed at least 200 times over half an hour before I checked out. Smyths now saying no more stock until January.

Other retailers to keep an eye on - AO, Studio, John Lewis, EE & BT if you're an existing customer, Very and ShopTo.

I know too much. I don't even play video games and I think the console is hideous but the victory of finally getting one! Oh the sweet victory..

@catsarebetterthandogs9 haha, same. The console design looks hideous. I’ve bought it for DH as a surprise (I’m only 50:50 if he actually wants one). I remember the same stress getting the Wii and Xbox One when they were released a while back!! 😂 I’ve got the console and an extra controller, but can’t find the accessories (charger and remote) anywhere.

Have you bought any games for it? Wondering if I should get a few for him to open on Christmas morning.

He got me a Switch last year and that was a nightmare. I knew he was getting it, he didn't know I knew. My sister knew I knew and he knew my sister knew so I had to tell my sister to tell him whenever stock came in

I've got him COD Cold War so far (I cannot believe the price of the games now!!).
There isn't many out yet that he'll be interested in, so he can play his PS4 games in the meantime and then buy his own cause I'm not paying for anymore!

Their supply chain is exactly what they want it to be. They want the hype of everyone looking for them. If everyone could just get them, there wouldn't be threads being made about them, and I wouldn't be sat here thinking 'should we get a PS5 in the new year?'

I think the competition of trying to get them increases hype, even among people who never originally intended to get one!

I feel your pain. I managed to reserve one in stock in Argos 100 miles away. Was fully ready to drive there and collect but then my oh managed to get an overpriced bundle from game which will hopefully be here soon. Where abouts in the country are u

White white East Midlands, but prepared to travel. When was there stock at Argos???? Both the apps and website on this thread have said no stock since 3/4 December ( that was the 4am drop I missed)

There won't be though. There will be stock coming through between now and then. There always is!

It was on 3rd during the early hours. It was very glitchy but the money came out of our account. It’s reserved until 10th in Southport. I would need to confirm it is 100% there but we plan to cancel the order and could potentially tell you when and you could either go/call the same day. If it’s near you.
