Tips on hanging decorations please!

I usually work away a lot in the run up to Christmas. My usual decorations are a tree and a few bits. I'm home all the time at the moment so want to go Christmas crazy! However I am clueless about how to hang stuff without wrecking the walls and ceiling.
What do you use to hang paper stars etc? Are there any hanging hacks you can share?

Paper stars from the ceiling I have used cellotape.

Things that are heavy we have used those hooks that you stick on the walls.

Command hooks, I just leave them up all year as the transparent ones aren’t very visible. One of them has taken paint off my wall before, but it was quite new paint on new walls. They’ve been fine on the older walls.

Command hooks. But I will disagree with pp, and say take them down when you’re done. Over time they go brittle and can snap off and it’s a right faff getting them off.
