What are you having? Something with no faff as it’s a busy day!

We usually have lasagne as I can make it the day before then it just goes in the oven, served with garlic bread and salad. Easy!

riotlady · 29/11/2020 18:38

Floor picnic

pincertoe · 29/11/2020 18:40

We always have cheese and crackers.

BashfulClam · 29/11/2020 18:55

Fish and chips, my fridge space is precious.

Nomoreboobs · 29/11/2020 18:55

@riotlady

You’ve just given me a great idea as my Dd loves a floor picnic, what do you have, any ideas?

Juliehooligan · 29/11/2020 18:57

Chinese take away! I’m cooking on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, so people can just do one if they think I’m cooking on all 3!

Amerimoon · 29/11/2020 18:57

What are people putting in these floor picnics/ picky bits please?? The kids would adore a house picnic but I don’t have time to be faffing with lots of tiny food items! Is it hot or cold?

We have dominoes

WilmaJean · 29/11/2020 18:59

Lasagne, garlic bread and salad Smile

MojoJojo71 · 29/11/2020 19:00

One of my friends runs an Indian catering company so I’m having one of her wonderful sharing platters delivered on Christmas Eve. They are meant for 2 but I’m having one all to myself Blush

WineTheBobbin · 29/11/2020 19:00

There's a lovely turkish restaurant here that does delivery so might get that. But wondering if everyone else will be doing the same... and then it'll take ages. Don't want to get hangry on christmas eve!

tassisssss · 29/11/2020 19:05

I like to have roast ham so we have lots of leftovers. We will have ham with dauphinoise potatoes and some of the Christmas Day red cabbage and some of the Christmas Day cranberry sauce and another veg maybe asparagus or baby corn.

I will forget that the other 4 members of my household like dessert. I would prefer a second helping of main. They'll be happy with a vienetta I just need to remember to buy something.

ImpossibleGirl · 29/11/2020 19:05

Family tradition is a clove studded baked ham. Accompaniments depend on what you feel like. We usually have it with salad, garlic bread and any other picky bits (pickles, etc) that we fancy.

Us "young 'uns" now have a Ham Off over Facebook each year. All siblings and cousins posting pics of the Christmas Eve hams being cooked. Grin😂😂 Our parents just shake their heads and park their bums at one of our tables instead of cooking their own now.

Scotlass · 29/11/2020 19:07

We always, always have a carpet picnic by the Christmas tree with favourite hot and cold nibbles watching a xmas movie in new Christmas pjs then when movie ends we put out Santa/Rudolph and the elves treats
Its probably my favourite part of Christmas

anothernamereally · 29/11/2020 19:10

I always do a ham and have it with egg and chips, leftover ham goes on the Christmas table with the turkey

Inthemuckheap · 29/11/2020 19:10

Oysters and lobster. It's OH's Christmas and the only one we'll be having as not doing anything on 25th.

S111n20 · 29/11/2020 19:14

We always have Chinese takeaway Christmas Eve 😋

GameSetMatch · 29/11/2020 19:17

We will finish off what ever is left over from our Christmas eve lunch buffet. We usually eat lots at lunch time so just graze on the leftovers.

tinkywinkyshandbag · 29/11/2020 19:38

We usually have a cooked ham, garlic bread, salad, coleslaw etc then Yule log for pud. And lots of fizz.

movingonup20 · 29/11/2020 19:39

Normally go out, goodness knows this year, we are tier 3

ohtheholidays · 29/11/2020 19:41

We usually have a huge Chinese take away,we all order different things and we order mixed starters and mongolian crispy lamb and crispy duck and we all share the lot.

Its gorgeous and no effort on our part what so ever which is the complete opposite to Christmas day when I make everything from scratch and we have several courses throughout the year.

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 29/11/2020 20:03

For the last 4 years we have gone out to a steakhouse. It is booked for this year and we are tier 2 so I'm hoping it will go ahead.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/11/2020 20:06

We have the takeaway on the 23rd . I'm working so it'll be later evening.
Pizza for DS , Chinese for DH, DD and me

Christmas Eve we have lunch of fish fingers (for DS) vegetable grills for the rest of us , triple cooked chips , salad and dips

Then in the evening French Bread, cheeses , crisps, ,chocolate crispy cakes , Christmas cake and mince pies .

Lasagne in the freezer and a couple of packs of vegetable soup.

StoicWalrus · 29/11/2020 20:08

Ham, egg & chips for us. Egg & chips for the vegetarian. Easy and delicious.

skeemee · 29/11/2020 20:30

We always seem to be doing up the house right up til Xmas Eve. So it’s always spent cleaning and hiding the mess and then prepping veg and making soup. It’s never relaxing and I do get a little pang about friends going to the cinema or out for drinkies. We have never managed to have a relaxing Xmas Eve. Ever.

So we’ll probably have fish n chips.
