Help! Husband nearly died 2 years ago and has been v depressed then kicked out of job.
Have 2 just teenagers and am desperate for some where nice to go/ something to do as trudging around damp countryside with miserable Dh has lost its appeal. And a very long Xmas looms. Is there anywhere we can go atm..? Anything we can do? We live in Scotland. More than happy to travel! Thank you!

What’s the budget? Book a fortnight in Dubai?

Magicsprinkles · 30/11/2020 04:57

Would love to! I looked at a local hotel, £600 for 4 nights and he got all,’ we need that money I might lose my job’ it’s getting a bit wearing tbh.

What tier will you be in when lockdown ends? If you're in 1 or 2 there could be some fun things to do.

What are/were his hobbies? Lots of places/venues are creating things to do socially distances etc. For example, Silverstone are decorating the F1 circuit and allowing you to drive your car around (slowly of course) and look at the lights. That could be cool if he likes F1/cars etc!

The Visit Scotland site has some useful information on events that are on over Christmas / New Year. It might give you some ideas of things you could do locally.

Thanks will look at visit Scotland tho feel we’ve done it all. Silverstone sounds wonderful. Maybe we could pop to see friends in london. Or is that incredibly dangerous?!

Don't pop to London to see friends. Just stay at home. In 3 months winter will be ending. Plan to do something nice then when the weather is better. Having something to look forward to will help.

Kayak have virtual holidays that you can download. Could be fun and give you a feel for the actual trip one day.

Magicsprinkles · 30/11/2020 05:46

sillyoldmummy That’s a good idea. I guess I could sort out the house, get them to redesign bedrooms etc. Dd will be revising I guess. And ds will be on his computer all the time! Actually that takes the pressure off - arranging anything is a nightmare as Dh needs lots of gentle easing into the idea and then changes everything at the last minute.
Would like for us to somehow be a family - Dh is very hard to be around and ds is on his computer all the time now. He says there’s no point meeting his friends in real life as there’s nothing to do.

kayak they look fun! May turn up the heating and make the right food etc😀
Thank you, all. Am sure it will pass, it’s just that the last 2 years have been so miserable, not sure I can keep it up!
