Is this enough?

Hosting Christmas this year and we'll have 7 adults to feed. No one is keen on turkey, a few people don't do beef or pork so this is what I'm planning:

Roast Chicken
Roast potatoes
Carrots
Cauliflower
Broccoli
Butternut squash mash
Stuffing
Gravy

Pudding: chocolate log

Will this be enough? If not, any ideas for extra sides? Something I can make in advance would be even better. Thank you x

To be honest your menu isn’t Christmassy enough

It feels to much like. Normal Sunday dinner.

Ideasplease322 · 28/11/2020 20:56

Oh yes and Christmas dinner needs a starter.

nancy75 · 28/11/2020 20:59

Can you get a chicken big enough for 7 people?

Figgygal · 28/11/2020 21:01

Parsnips
Bread sauce
Red cabbage
Pigs in blankets
Cheese
A second dessert or mince pies

We not facing sprouts either

rottiemum88 · 28/11/2020 21:02

Yorkshire pudding, pigs in blankets and sprouts

Good Luck! x

I think it's enough. But I'd add roast parsnips, make cauliflower - cauliflower cheese and swap the broccolli for brussel sprouts with chestnuts. But that's just my taste!

I'm not sure about chocolate log for dessert but that could just be my taste too! We have Christmas pudding with brandy butter and cream or Chocolate pudding with ice cream or cream for the DC.

  • Honey roast carrots & parsley
  • Perhaps make the cauliflower into cauliflower cheese
  • chipolatas or pigs in blankets
  • bread sauce
  • DH always insists on Yorkshire puds too
nellyburt · 28/11/2020 23:28

What about a starter and a cheese board? And as others have said sprouts, pigs in blankets etc.

To be honest I'd be disappointed with roast chicken and a chocolate log.

CyberNan · 28/11/2020 23:40

scrap all the veg, keep the chicken, stuffing and chocolate log...

get some nice crusty bread to have with the chicken and stuffing and a couple of salads that you can make the day before, just to add a bit of variety.

custard, cream or ice cream to go with the chocolate log

sit back and enjoy spending christmas with your family instead of with your oven

i cant believe people serve cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage and sprouts together.... thank goodness for social distancing... :-o

I'm having pizza.
