I’ve seen lots of trees already this year on social media and am noticing a trend for giant figures or decorations under the tree including Santa, reindeers, fake presents etc etc Does anyone bother with a throw these days? We have a real tree so usually just have it in a pot. What does everyone have under/ next to their tree?

Ooh thanks, I shall buy it then !Grin

Why bother with the tree skirts if they look shit?? Our pot isn’t hideous, would like a nicer one though. Perhaps just finding a really nice pot would be enough and leave it at that. It feels as though more should be there but I’m not really sure what to put there. A train set is a lovely idea too.

I have a tree skirt, then around the edge of the tree skirt is a Christmas train set, then in the middle is some singing/dancing Christmas soft toys.

I use a beautiful deep red Christmas skirt round our tree with white embroidered snowflakes on it that I bought a few Januaries ago in House of Fraser sale. I love it and it always seems a shame to cover it up with presents.

nothing. It sits in a corner between the fireplace and the sofa, so the bottom half is hidden

I'm too lazy to move everything underneath and untie it without knocking off any baubles plus it stops said cats and dog and toddler Hmm chewing the metal legsGrin.

So glad others do LEGO trains too!

This year we have rearranged things and have 2 smaller trees. So one will be in a nice little wooden table and there will be a large decorative christmas present fairly light thing underneath it.

The tree downstairs will be on top of a unit and I suppose I could put some decorations on the same unit. I do have a lovely little silver reindeer this year and that might go nicely.

If I had a full sized tree I doubt I would bother though!

We have a moose sitting next to our main tree , he’s called Murray

AdoraBell · 28/11/2020 20:39

Side board on one side and chair on the other side. Right now it’s there in the box. I can’t put it up due a frozen shoulder. DDs will be home from Uni soon, one is a complete Christmas fiend. She would never forgive me if I don’t leave it for her to decorate it.

Tree skirt. Ours is squashed in a corner between sofa and the window, a real one wouldn't fit as the space is so narrow so we have a 7ft slim artificial tree.
There's a present under it as well right now but that's just because I received a gift early

ShaunaTheSheep · 28/11/2020 20:59

Tree skirt that I made a few years ago.

I love the idea of digging out the Hornby set - Thomas the Tank Engine in a Christmas hat!

Or may set up the Scalextric to circle the tree.

Either way we will be stealing the parcel tunnels idea Xmas Smile

NaughtipussMaximus · 28/11/2020 21:07

Nothing. We have wooden floors so we do have something under the stand (artificial tree) to protect the floors. I’d really like something to cover the metal stand but I’m not sure what - I don’t like those wicker skirts so I need something else... We put the presents under on Christmas Eve.

earthyfire · 28/11/2020 21:10

Nothing I don't like the clutter, my tree is very full so presents get lost underneath.

Bloodybridget · 28/11/2020 21:28

We get a real tree which stands on an an old wooden tool box (like a small trunk really) in its holder. There's a bit of holly-printed cloth that covers the box. Then I wrap shiny red paper round the tree stand. All very basic and reused, but once it's got a few presents around it, it looks nice. Some bits and pieces that are a bit too big to hang on the tree sit around it too.

I'm getting our tree within the next week, looking forward to having it up.
