What to get difficult 17yo

I've got everyone's presents down but my 17-year-old brother's. He's a minimalist and doesn't like tat that he won't use and will just sit in his room, very particular about clothes and cologne/deodorant (the more expensive types) and he doesn't have any hobbies or interests other than gaming and being with his friends. Won't do experience days. He has a job and gets a steady wage so he's always got his own money and buys anything he needs. He isn't into chocolates and sorts either.

On top of that my budget is quite small, around £15. I really can't think of anything he would want or use.

Subscription for a magazine, or food/drink that he wouldn't normally buy himself (eg spicery or beer)
A print for his wall

Have you asked him what he would like?

Ahwig · 28/11/2020 09:46

I bought my grandson who is a similar age a mini fridge for his bedroom. He absolutely loves it

My own ds is 17 I've got him an xbox game, electric toothbrush, wallet tool, small toolset, xmas socks, Jean's, fluffy blanket for his bed.
Hes really into sweets so was also going to do a little hamper of sweets he likes.

Pupper · 28/11/2020 10:10

@Iwantacookie He has a big double bed so I think a fluffy blanket will go down well!

I've asked him and he says "nothing" as our parents give him a budget to spend on what he likes for Christmas but I think they've got him a few stocking fillers such as bath sets etc. A mini-fridge would be nice, but he has a really small room already.

He sounds just like my 19 year old DS! I'm really struggling with what to buy to him too so will follow this thread for ideas.

A controller skin?

josbd · 28/11/2020 13:56

You have said above that he is a really great bro, so go to him and start with that, adding "I would really like to buy you a present, so will you give it a think, and let me know?"

My bro is similarly great. I don't have a great deal of money, but I have got him a multitool card which will fit in his wallet; and he has always been a huge fan of Lt Uhura from the original Star Trek series. So I trolled around ebay and got him a signed photo!

Good luck.

What about a photo book, you can upload childhood and important event images online via Bonusprint or others and design the pages?

Can people buy gift vouchers for amazon prime movies? Then he could watch something he enjoyed.
