Good coding robot for a 6 yo

My DS saw this coding robot in the Smyth's catalogue as has asked for a 'coding robot'.

It looks good but I can't find many reviews and I'm looking at it thinking it looks a bit basic and not much you can do with it really.

Is there perhaps a better alternative? He's fairly bright so would manage something aimed at slightly older children. One of the things he liked the look of with that robot though is that it's something you have to construct. As lego/construction/making is his big big love.

There are so many coding robots out there I'm hoping for some actual recommendations!! Under £50/60 please. The more under the better!

If you are not against shopping on amazon have a look on there. There are so many options with prices starting from £28 and some have now been significantly reduced.

Learning resources is good for ideas. Bright minds is another good site though I would suggest comparing prices as they can be a little more expensive.

I am not sure why this is a coding robot? Have you look at microbits or raspberry pi? Otherwise if he just wants to play coding, how about something like codecombat.com/ You can play a lot of the levels free.

I mean for microbit and raspberry pi you can search for robot kits for them in Amazon. I see many under £50.

We have an Edison Robot knocking around. The top fits lego bricks so they can build it into whatever they want. In its simplest form it can be made to read included bar codes to do different things like stay within a line, turn right and left on clapping etc and then you can download a program to write your own code.
