HELP!! Where do I buy a snowman outfit for a 1yo?

My DS is a snowman in his nurserys' Christmas concert (for goodness sake, of all the rediculous things to do...bah humbug etc ).

Anyway, they have told me that he needs a costume. Now the concert is only 15 mins long, and I have already spent 2 hours surfing the net to try to find where I can buy one (so we are already talking disproportionate effort). But nowhere seems to sell them. PLEASE, does anyone have any idea ere I can get one?

I know I should try to make an outfit, but I am unbelievably crap at things like that, the humiliation of teachers comments about my weekly craft projects at junior school still haunt me. All my life I have avoided anything that might involve "making things" - and when I have tried to put the past behind me and try anyway, it ends up with it going wrong and me having an almighty tantrum.

or get a white hooded baby gro a scark and make a strap on orange nose although how long that would stay on im not sure.

Belgianchocolates · 18/10/2007 22:49

My DS had to be a snowman when he was 1: White tights + white top + hat + white painted face. Simple and cheap.

nappyaddict · 18/10/2007 22:50

scarf

Belgianchocolates · 18/10/2007 23:14

Ah yes, I forgot that one: Scarf. No pipe though, not very PC nowadays. Oh and he had a painted orange nose.

nappyaddict · 19/10/2007 00:22

wear did you get the black hat from to fit him? or did you make it?

fifisworld · 19/10/2007 08:00

Mothercare also have them

Elfsmummy · 19/10/2007 08:13

This is officially the cutest snowman's outfit in the world! I didn't think I'd ever dress DD up until I saw this! Still trying to resist!

Yes it's true, my DS didn't look half as cute in his tights and white T-shirt!

jaz2 · 19/10/2007 19:31

Ooh! Fantastic, thank you for the ideas. I had found some costumes on the internet, but the smallest size they tended to do was for 3+ year olds (or would be shipped from the US which soesn't seem very straighforward). The scarecrow one is cute, but again, would dwarf my 1yo! I'll remember it for next year tho.

I really like the idea of a white sleepsuit and buttons sown on (even I can do that - and it's cheap). He will look SO adorable dressed up like that. You see, I lack the ability to think laterally - tho at 1am this morning I did have the scarf brainwave!

I can now look forward to the concert - rather than dreading it.

the mothercare costume has sizes 12-24 months and 2-3 years, if that helps.

nappyaddict · 20/10/2007 17:31

all the ones i linked to do 1-2 years and some did 6-12 months.

jaz2 · 20/10/2007 22:58

Nappyaddict & Triggles: sorry, I see now that there are some ones for the right age - I'll give them a try if my attempts at creating one out of a sleepsuit doesn't work. It's good to have a few backup options.
