Crackers

For years I have made/filled my own crackers.

Sometimes I make from scratch with toilet rolls etc and sometimes I buy value crackers and open and refill.

This year I tried making my own resusable fabric crackers and they were a disaster. I like the idea of them as being reusable, but I can't decide what to do.

Buying value and refilling is cheapest (£1 per year) but creates waste.

Buying reusable ones appeals but will cost around £30 but be a one off. The downside is that it's another thing to store in my already bursting house.

Trivial WWYD?

Last year we felt crackers seemed wasteful, and instead DD and I made paper origami boxes and filled them with a paper hat and a joke. We were really happy with them and I suspect we'll do the same this year.

I was looking at refillable ones too and I'm wavering. The ones I bought last year were all recyclable and contained wooden tree decs which felt like a nice compromise. Reminds me I need to investigate what's left at the back of the cupboard to see what might need getting this year.
