scalextric advice

Thinking of getting scalextric set for kids this Christmas. Any advice? Is it the sort of thing where you need a sizeable amount of track to enjoy?

Loved scalextric when I was a kid. I always found it better with a smaller track as there was less to go wrong but I’m sure the tracks are much better now. I saw a set in Lidl yesterday for £69.99, similar set in Amazon is just under £100. I’m guessing you can buy extra track on eBay to add to it. My dd would love one and I almost bought the set yesterday but we have no space to set it up.
