Can we have a thread where we can grumble about Christmas items not arriving?

Starting with:

Aftershave from the Perfume shop for DGS, ordered 5 November. Told via Live Chat on 15th that it was 'lost' and a replacement will be sent.
Live chat today confirmed it was 'marked to replace, give it a few more days'. Which I took to mean it hadn't been despatched yet.

Bracelets and earrings from AccentCullture, a US firm recommended on here, for DGD. Tracking number received from Post Office but on entering it a message says they cannot locate it, 'Please try tomorrow' .

Anyone else getting annoyed with delivery services which don't deliver?

Ooh yes!

Lisa Angel - don't even know how long ago I ordered, September maybe? Was dispatched and didn't arrive by the expected delivery date. Contacted them and they said Royal Mail couldn't find our address (???) so it was being returned to them, they'd let me know when they had it and would send it straight back out with a different courier. I hear nothing. Email them again - no they don't have it yet but it can take 18 days. Email them after 18 days - no they don't have it but they're expecting some parcels from Royal Mail later that day so email again. Emailed a few days later - no they still don't have it. I now have a refund. I should be clear, no issues with customer service (other than they could have been more proactive), refund was offered straight away but I opted to have it sent straight out.

Precious Little One - Ordered a brio train set and couple of add ons back in September. They had 5% off all orders so it made them marginally cheaper than amazon. Two items were a preorder for dispatch no later than 31st October, the other item was in stock so dispatched straight away. All fine. We get to the 31st October and I get an email to say they haven't received stock from the manufacturer yet, they'll let me know when they've got a new expected delivery date, or I can have a refund. Ok, annoying, but no problem waiting a bit longer. A few days later I get an email to say dispatch is now expected mid-December, or I can have a refund. That's cutting it a bit close for my liking so I request the refund. Cue two weeks worth of holding emails telling me my request has been prioritised, but things are taking a bit longer so please allow 7 working days. Still nothing, so I email them. No reply. So I leave a trust pilot review and they respond almost immediately. Also raised a PayPal dispute. They offered a refund through PayPal of less than what I was owed, so I declined it and stated what it should be, including calculations (ie the price of the two items minus the 5% discount). They return with an offer of the same incorrect punt stating my order total was X, I've already received an item which cost Y, so the remaining amount to be refunded is Z. So basically I'm no longer getting the 5% discount. And actually my order no longer qualifies for free delivery so I should be grateful they're not deducting delivery charges as well. THE ABSOLUTE CHEEK. So they can fuck off and I'll just give amazon my money in future.

Matalan - Sent a glass candle holder in a bag. It smashed.

H&M - sent age 12-13 Xbox pyjamas instead of age 9-12 month Christmas trousers.

Etsy - order just hasn't shown up two weeks after expected delivery.

Siiiiiigh. Other than Precious Little Ones, all customer service has been excellent though.

I don't expect anyone to read that lengthy rant, but gosh I feel better now 😂

TrickyD · 19/11/2020 15:35

I read it. It deserves a rant.
Precious Little One is clearly to be avoided.
Looking on the bright side, one day DC will grow into those pyjamas.

I felt hopeful when Royal Mail said they had my bracelets, it meant they had crossed the Atlantic safely. How can it all take so long? Plenty of companies get their stuff out promptly regardless of Covid19

Ordered a skateboard from Amazon in October, estimated date 5 Nov. About a week afterward it was due I checked again and they have loads of bad feedback saying people hadn't received items due at the same time as mine. Can't figure out how to request a refund, Amazon keeps saying it's delayed but on the way. Once I finally got through to their resolution centre chat thing they said they would refund and it might take 1-2 weeks but it went through about an hour later so I was happy in the end!

myhobbyisouting · 19/11/2020 15:40

How did we get to 4 replies without M&S getting a mention 🤣

Shitfuckoh · 19/11/2020 15:47

I'm awaiting on a Playstation game that's apparently been delivered via Royal Mail - I haven't received it. It's been 'left in a safe place' - yep so safe even I can't find it!

Next - Hermes were supposed to deliver family PJ's. Received 2 out of 4. 3 were supposed to be in 1 parcel, nope. Just 2. Refunded. The 4th pair was supposed to arrive a week later, reckons it's been delivered. Picture supplied - can not make anything out!
Driver says he left it with next door, nope they don't have it (and I trust them, they'd taken parcels in for me before with no issues).
Next say they've sent me an email with a letter to sign - haven't received that either Confused

John Lewis - snowglobe arrived smashed & leaked all over the rest of the parcel. Gutted as I really wanted that one and all sold out.

RenardeRenarde · 19/11/2020 17:01

I think this is going to be a bad year for anything posted - Etsy item supposed to be shipped early October was shipped TODAY from the US, doubt that will land in time for Xmas tbh.
Nothing else missing or badly delayed but things I’ve been quoted 2-5 day delivery for have been taking an average of 10 days for the last month (except Amazon prime stuff) - I’m not keen to order much more now because I imagine it will get worse and worse as we hit December.
Of course I’m not keen to wait until lockdown lifts either so I’m not sure what to do really

Daisy829 · 19/11/2020 17:04

M&S gin hamper
M&S cardigan. Said they had delivered it but never seen it.
I’m nervous about my oodie order as despatch isn’t until 8 dec but reviews of the company are good so I hope it arrives safely.
Our standard post isn’t arriving until 5pm at the moment the post office is so busy around here.

MoonPomme · 19/11/2020 17:09

Typo, loads of stocking fillers for my son and little sister, ordered in the 70%off sale on 10th November
Seems to have got lost between the warehouse and the courier.
Refunded me this morning but now I need stocking fillers. Very annoying.

Onedropbeat · 19/11/2020 17:10

I love all my delivery people as they seem to go out of the way

But I ordered an item from feather and black which hasn’t reached me yet

I ordered it on 20th October!!

They’ve been very helpful on the phone help though and say it will be with me soon.

Fingers crossed!

Triggered!! 😂🤣
BabarEnFamille · 19/11/2020 18:38

I had a similar problem with PreciousLittleOne - ordered a Brio garage at the end of August, had the delivery date changed several times and then I cancelled and had weeks of emails to get a refund.
That item is now showing as delivery in Jan so just as well I didn’t hang on for it!
Annoying that they’re selling it at a reduced price when they don’t actually have the product to sell...

myhobbyisouting · 19/11/2020 20:58

@NoWordForFluffy soz 😂😂

TrickyD · 21/11/2020 10:43

The bracelets and earrings ordered from AccentCulture in the US arrived this morning. Once Royal Mail tracking started working it was interesting to see the circuitous route taken.
I am pleased with the earrings which are handmade and spell out my DGD's name. She said she liked the online picture, but whether she will wear them in reality is questionable.

No sign yet of DGS's aftershave from the Perfume Shop. I hope others on here are doing better.

I have the same thing with precious little ones as well! Still chasing for my refund and am about to raise a PayPal dispute ( might try the trust pilot review route now!)

thelegohooverer · 21/11/2020 12:51

I ordered a lookfantastic advent calendar for my dsis. No sign of it but they are providing great entertainment by way of their emails - I’ve had dispatch notice for 03 Dec Hmm, then a retraction- that was a mistake and it would be with me by 19th Nov. But that’s been creeping back up and at the moment it will be “around 26th”.

Against my better judgement I ordered something from m&s last week. Hoping it will come. Their customer services outside the U.K. are shockingly bad. Feels more like taking a punt than placing an order.

I’ve had loads of deliveries in the last 6 months - been largely housebound - and while things have been understandably slow, most companies manage to get their stuff out and communicate reasonably. I’ve learned to check before I buy that they’re not using a particular delivery company, and that they have actual humans in customer service.

ktsc89 · 21/11/2020 14:41

I've ordered a kitchen (not present related as such but essential to be fitted in the next few weeks so all done for Christmas - we are hosting restrictions permitting).

The fridge hasn't arrived....

ktsc89 · 21/11/2020 14:41

It was delivered today should I say, complete order apparently...

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 21/11/2020 14:49

Oh glad to see this thread, unsurprising I suppose but the delivery companies and shops aren’t coping very well at the moment. I’m having issues with a (huge) amazon parcel that has gone missing, a delivery from Victoria’s Secret that is taking ages and a weighted blanket that I don’t know where it might be.
The last one is my mistake though, I’m doing Xmas online shopping for my mum as well as me and somehow our two addresses combined to make nonsense. I only spotted it on the dispatch note.
Unfortunately even though Hermes have messaged to say there is a problem, you can’t just speak to a human to put the address right and solve the issue. No idea where that will end up.
I’m having to make lists of every thing I buy so I can keep track.

LikeSilentRaindrops · 21/11/2020 15:08

@Onedropbeat just reading the name ‘Feather and Black’ has given me shivers down my spine.

We ordered 3 new beds and mattresses from them, in readiness for moving house, two years ago that we never received. Spent over £1000 with them - they switched off their phones so nobody could leave a message and didn’t ever answer emails. It went on for WEEKS. In the meantime, I ordered the beds from John Lewis and managed to get the money back through Visa in the January. Hideous and stressful experience (at 38 weeks pregnant as well!) am amazed they’re still trading, had assumed they’d gone under at the time hence why they were hiding.

No nightmares this year, though I was surprised this morning with a QVC order I’d made 6 weeks ago and totally forgotten about Grin

TrickyD · 22/11/2020 18:07

Another Live Chat with the Perfume Shop. Apparently DGS's aftershave, ordered on 5 November, is in the warehouse and 'may' be with me on Friday.
Chat person said that the 'lead time' on their website for customers receiving their orders was wrong.
Why not change it then?

Mustbethewine · 22/11/2020 18:33

I had a stressful experience with coconut bowls. I did receivemy order eventually but it was absolute chaos. I had so many emails from various different employees with different excuses why I hadn't received my order. I was told at first that the Bar code label wasn't scanning properly. Then they said they were accidentally sending out wrong items to people so they were working on fixing the situation so I'd get my order when they were sure I'd get the correct items. Then it was issues with stock in the warehouse. Then it was because of covid. They finally admitted they'd have no idea when it would arrive and offered me refund. Literally the very next day my order arrives. The whole situation gave me a headache. I'm still confused as to what the hell happened!

pinkksugarmouse · 22/11/2020 19:14

I ordered a t-shirt on etsy. I have never had problems with an etsy order before. It was allegedly dispatched on the 9th. Four days ago I message the seller who said they would check with the Royal mail. I haven't heard anything back yet.
Still early days but thank goodness I paid by PayPal just in case there is any dispute.

PinkJam · 22/11/2020 19:28

I used Precious Little One last year and would never use again. Was supposed to collect the parcel from my local Asda and got a message to say it had arrived. It hadn’t and took weeks to get a refund.

ihearttc · 22/11/2020 20:42

I’ve ordered a giant personalised cookie from Millies Cookies instead of a cake for DS2’s birthday tomorrow which won’t arrive as it hasn’t even been despatched yet.

I ordered a footballer trainer thing from a FB advert which took 6 weeks to arrive.

Need to order some stuff from JD but rather scared after the nightmare I had last time.
