I have just got some magazine subscriptions.

National Geographic, Readers Digest, The Oldie.

Hope they arrive before xmas time for the recipients.

justasking111 · 18/11/2020 23:50

I have bought lego in the past the architecture ones. Second hand on E Bay, complete with box and instructions. The prices have gone up so much since last xmas £600 for one I had my eye on, so that is not happening. It is worth having a mooch men still enjoy a lego challenge.

Loving these ideas .... great thread !
Can I ask where would I go for the whisky advent calendar ?
I know nothing about whisky but would like to get one for my dad who loves the stuff.
Thanks !

Bingowin · 19/11/2020 00:09

No idea what to buy my DP so I’ve bought him a load of scratch cards!

FizzyPink · 19/11/2020 00:18

Mine has got -
Personalised Marmite jar
Penhaligons gift set
White Company stick car air freshener
White company body wash
Candy Kittens sweets
Bluetooth shower speaker
Urban Apothecary candle
Fancy lip balm he likes
White chocolate orange

He’s lost 3 months of work this year due to lockdowns and we had also almost saved enough to buy a house before Covid so have agreed to just do stockings this year although I’m tempted to also get the electric toothbrush he wants as he’s had such a rubbish year and put up with me being ill a lot

YorkieTheRabbit · 19/11/2020 09:51

I’ve just ordered so stuff from niwaki, canvas bag, pruning saw and gloves, he’s very much Mr Practical Grin whisky, some ales in a box that looks like a pub, personalised with his name and it contains pub quiz questions too.
Taylor’s of Bond Street shaving cream
Turtle doves fingerless gloves as he’s always got cold hands
A beer glass to go with the ales
Pens and a pen holder, he can never find a pen on his desk at home Confused
iPhone case
Lindor mint truffles
I need a few other bits but I’m looking for inspiration too Smile

sociallydistained · 19/11/2020 09:56

Joining this thread with no ideas except I was going to get my DP a gin subscription last year and then we both decided not to drink anymore! I got a really good few ideas from threads like this last year including a personalised wallet I can't remember the name of the company but he absolutely loves it and still bangs on about it Grin

Really stumped this year and his birthday is shortly after although I've sorted something for that although don't think it'll go ahead (it's a show!) ffs lol

I recommend the Master of Malt website. Warning... The actual advent calendars are £100+. Look at the tasting sets... The 12 bottle one I got DH eas £45.
itsgettingcoldoutside · 19/11/2020 14:11

I'm not sure what to do get my dp
I kind of wish he was into pampering himself it would make present buying easier 😂.
He has asked for some cordless headphones, so I will look around for some tomorrow.

ChippyTea16 · 19/11/2020 15:41

Some things that have gone down well in the past (and some I am doing this year) are:

Nice cosy dressing gown (M&S, not something he'd buy for himself but he loves it)
Sports gear for his favourite NFL team
Pizza kit
New gym tops
Nice wash bag
Slippers
Whiskey glasses
Oodie (one of those blanket hoodies)
Nail kit
Aeropress coffee thing
Sleep spray

This year I am going to cover a cardboard box with wrapping paper and do a stocking-filler-type box (in addition to some of the stuff listed above) with:
-stress-busting bubble bath
-chutney that he likes
-coffee beans including decaf
-selection box

latheritup · 19/11/2020 17:03

Ok so I've gone for so far.. thanks to your suggestions!

Monk strap shoes
Wallet
Swimming trunks

Mont Blanc aftershave
Posh gin

@Aroundtheworldin80moves Thanks for the tip off !! Who knew Whiskey was so bloody expensive !!!!

CarolEffingBaskin · 19/11/2020 22:21

PlayStation 5
Star Wars Lego
Rum
Jumper
Considering an echo show and ring doorbell because he works from home in a separate office and it would be handy.
Travel mug
Obligatory toblerone & chocolate orange

UndertheCedartree · 19/11/2020 22:28

I'm getting/have got:
Xbox game
Aftershave
Toiletry bag and toiletries
Nose hair shaver (or whatever it is)
Headphones
Pj bottoms
Candle
Colouring book
Galaxy selection box

EKGEMS · 19/11/2020 23:28

New leather coat, Nike shirt with favorite college team and some very plush slippers

CaptainCarp · 20/11/2020 00:03

@ChippyTea16 hope you don't mind me tagging you. Whats sleep spray?
DP often has trouble dropping off so that might be good.

I need some more inspiration lol. We now have some coconut macaroon ritter bars which I found in lidl added so at least something he's not expecting! Might be mostly money to add to his PS5 fund I think from me.

ChippyTea16 · 20/11/2020 00:23

@CaptainCarp not at all! I got it from Boots a couple of years ago by the brand ‘This Works’ - I’ve added a link below but they do gift sets too. It’s lavender spray that you put on your pillow and helps you to sleep but they have other things in the range.

I also read that Lush’s ‘sleepy’ range was good for insomnia so I got him a gift set one year of that, think it was a bubble bath and a body cream but apparently it’s good.

Nitflux · 20/11/2020 00:33

Just told my husband I’m going to get Botox for me which is a present for him, as he’s the one that has to look at me.

Kidding, I’ll probably get him a nice dressing gown as we’re spending so much time at home.

Lisa78Lemon · 20/11/2020 00:43

Liking ideas so far!
I'm getting my DP sleep spray, lounge pants, a personalised plaque for his mini 'garage gym', some vegan chocolate & Adidas trainers he asked for.

Sweetener12 · 20/11/2020 09:21

I'm doing photo calendars for the whole family (my DP and parents) using a special calendar maker, so maybe it helps you, and also he is getting a large pack of skin care stuff, i.e. aftershave balm, deodorant, set of fragrances etc. He wouldn't say what he wants so I've decided to go practical and went to www.theperfumeshop.com/mens . His calendar will be have pics of Milan football club though.

ladybee28 · 20/11/2020 09:40

DP so far has:

Beard oil, shampoo and conditioner from his favourite brand
A Boy Smells candle
2 x photography books
Aesop hand sanitiser
A Kettlebell
Some fancy Danish Licorice
A Backnobber
An SD card for his new camera
A nicely framed photo of him on our little Italian getaway last year - the picture is mostly of the landscape but if you look closely you can just see him lying on his back on a blanket in the corner of a field, looking as relaxed as any living human being could be.

I want to get him something to wear, too, but I'm not a big fan of shopping for him online. I like to be able to touch things before I choose!

Thedarknightsaredrawingin · 20/11/2020 09:53

Stocking:
Boxers, socks, book, sweets and travel cup.
Gifts:
Aftershave, jumper, trainers, leather wrist strap, crate of ales and a bottle of single malt.

CaptainCarp · 21/11/2020 21:30

Thanks Chippy I might have to see if I can get some of this!

Also found some lovely soft pyjama bottoms from Tesco 25% off aswell
All the ones he has for relaxing round the house are starting to look very worn!

Flupibass · 21/11/2020 21:59

I’m reading this thread with desperation. All these lovely ideas and I’m going ‘no that’s no good....’ because he wouldn’t like them. He buys anything he wants when he wants so there’s nothing he needs. The only thing I’ve bought him is a book about wildlife weekends which we probably won’t be able to do this year.
I just don’t want to waste my money buying things he doesn’t want or need just for the sake of it. I’d buy a wwf subscription or sponsor an endangered animal but that’s more my interest. I might just do that though 🤣

SpnBaby1967 · 22/11/2020 12:08

Dh is so hard to buy for as he doesnt really do anything, and what he does do he buys himself whatever he needs!

So far he has Star Wars air fresheners for his car, a burger press, and some socks.

Going to try to get an xbox game maybe as he just bought the new X series.
