Hi, my 15 year old son has spent lockdown buying and teaching himself to play the electric guitar. I was thinking of getting him a pedal board with a few pedals for christmas but I'm clueless as to which ones do what.
He has mentioned a distortion pedal and mentioned one that sounds like a piano?! As he is a beginner I am looking at the lower end ones. Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Thanks @orangenasturtium for the links. I think he would really enjoy building his own pedals!

I'm hoping nobody minds me jumping on this thread rather than ask again on a new thread . There was some really good advice by posters.

I have looked at all the links suggested but am still clueless really.

I want to buy a pedal for my son who is learning the bass guitar. Obviously I want to get the right one (not mega expensive) and wonder if anyone could 'tell me which one to get' for want of another way of putting it!

I'd say he was a beginner but he says he's intermediate. Please help!

It really depends on what effect he’s trying to get, what style of music does he play ? Why don’t you ask him ? Or just buy a voucher for gear4music and then he can buy what he wants

He won't know what he wants and I want to surprise him. I think I was hoping someone would say - I'd buy so and so pedal.

Some good ideas so far though and as long as I don't spend a lot of money it won't matter.

You can google songs that you like and what pedals they use on them. If you find a track he listens to you could do that.

I like pedals, I own distortion, delay, fuzz, overdrive. Death by Audio pedals are amazing

Btw nearly all the guitarists I know buy pedals secondhand on eBay or Facebook, get more bang for your buck
