My perfect Christmas would be something along the lines of:

Pyjamas all day.
Presents for the kids in the morning
A nice breakfast - maybe croissants?
A buffet party food lunch and a Black Forest Gateaux for pudding.
An afternoon on the settee while the kids play with their toys.
A mountain of cheese, crackers and chutney and a tub of roses for tea.
A baileys and a game of cards with DH once the kids go to bed.

DH would like to do similar (apart from sacrificing his Christmas roast dinner).

It occurred to me while I was mulling over a lockdown over Christmas that we literally spend the whole day racing around to please everyone else. The only bits that we will do will be presents for the kids and a drink together on Christmas night. I couldn’t change our usual routine as I wouldn’t want to stop our parents spending time with the grandkids but the prospect of lockdown has made me daydream about a completely selfish Christmas Day Blush.

So tell me what would be your perfect day and how close do you get to it?

This thread is lovely lots of nice plans, we’re having a mini Christmas with our cleaner well he’s friend now so we’re giving him his present he wants a pizza blanket, mince pies or whatever he prefers. On the 18th he’s helping us put up our big tree.

Eggs benedict being shortened to Eggs bene' made me really uncomfortable, sorry.

Sorry for your discomfort - unfortunately something of a family/cultural habit, so likely to happen again. Grin

Most of the time my xmas is wonderful!

Since having kids we dont go anywhere else so no pressure there. Some years it's just the 5 of us, other years we have my mum, nan and sister. Having my sister is a nightmare as she is a lazy cow who will do fuck all to help & I get pissed off waiting on her.

But now she doesnt bother with me and my nan now lives abroad and my mum is moving away (and looking forward to xmas on her own) so this year will again be the 5 of us.

Plus this year we are forgoing a roast for 2 days of buffet and I cant bloody wait!!

My perfect Christmas is quite different Grin

Open some presents and stockings,
Dressing up in fancy clothes,
Church,
Home for sherry, nibbles, more presents, playing with DS,
Turkey and all the trimmings Christmas lunch,
Queen’s Speech,
Playing with DS and his presents,
Watch a film (short nowadays because DS is a toddler),
Christmas parlour games,
Afternoon tea eg Christmas cake,
Carol singing at the piano,
Bed for DS then Christmas TV and scoffing chocolates for me and DH

We get close to this most years!

Lots of nice plans on here! I’m sure we will all make the best of what whatever plans get thrown at us.

@thelegohooverer I’m glad it’s not just me secretly hoping for a guilt free stay at home day Grin
