What has your 5 year old girl put on her list?

My dd is lucky to have generous extended family and over the years has all the obvious presents for birthdays and Christmas - scooter, bike, dollhouse, kitchen, trampoline...

I have a few little bits for her this year but not the big ticket item from Santa - she can ask for what she wants obviously but given that she doesn’t go to shops at the moment or watch adverts she doesn’t seem to have any ideas herself so is quite suggestible! Given that it’s been a horrid year and she’s been such a good girl with a new baby sister I would like to spoil her a bit.

What are you/Santa getting your 5 year old girls please?!

DD2 is 6, she's asked for

Kindi Kids dolls
Disney princess dolls
Nintendo Switch (buying for the playroom)
Magic set
Karaoke machine
Lego
Watch
Large teddy
iPod (nope!)

I'm addition, she's got a lunchbox, lots of stationary, Daisy books and Little Mix annual plus little stocking fillers.

She wants an Our Generation school set up. But she has an older sister who can be an influence. And generally wants anything she sees 🙄 as well. Went through the Smyths catalogue ticking merrily.

Barbie dream house
Sylvanian family
Colouring book
PJ's
Flower press
Malteasers

That stupid pooping flamingo!

I have 4 and 6yo DDs. This year between them it will be yet more Lego, some Playmobil and Sylvanian bits, a Polly pocket, stilts, jigsaw, a board game and sticker book each, and some books. Stocking fillers include bath bomb, nail varnish, Lego mini figure blind bag (although not actually blind as I bought them at the Lego shop so could choose the character 😉), pot of Kinetic Sand, and mini crystal growing kit. They don't have GPs so won't get much outside of what we buy them.

Last year then-5yo DD1 got the VTech watch which was a massive hit and still gets a lot of use. DD1 enjoys the science experiment kits, so that might be an idea. She also got a Botley the coding robot for her birthday which has proven itself a hit.

What does she play with a lot? Could you add a bit to it? Eg could you get some accessories for her dolls house such as pictures for the walls, extra furniture? Any outdoor toys?

My 5 year old hasn’t asked for anything big. She asked for binoculars, a Playmobil mermaid set with a night light, some Lego, some outfits for her Design-a-friends dolls and a Merida costume.
I’ve never done ‘big’ presents really as the standard big ticket items like bikes and scooters I tend to get for birthdays.

WhoopsSomethingWentWrong · 11/11/2020 20:11

She got the Garmin Frozen watch for her birthday and that was a big hit.

WhoopsSomethingWentWrong · 11/11/2020 20:13

Ooh just looked up the Botley robot and think my 7 and 5 year olds would love that!

AHobbyaweek · 11/11/2020 20:16

My DD turned 5 in October and her favourites are the keyboard that lights the notes for songs and headphones!
Kinetic sand
Magnetic building stuff
But her best by far was polly pocket.

MondeoFan · 11/11/2020 20:21

Barbie dream house
Rainbow husky
Luvabella 2
Vtech smart watch

skankingpiglet · 11/11/2020 20:26

@WhoopsSomethingWentWrong it's really good. DDs roar with laughter whenever he is programmed incorrectly and steers into something (they do it on purpose), and the 'line following' setting is good too.

I’m sold! Ordered Grin

Having had to isolate with my daughter, o bought a cheap digital camera from Amazon for 20 pounds. The quality is shocking but she is thrilled with it and it came at a 32gb memory card. It claims to be shock proof and it’s quite small for little hands, very cute.

Piplette · 11/11/2020 22:15

My soon to be 6 year old has asked for a Luvabella doll, Rainbow corn bow surprise and a sylvanian families csmper van.

Her birthday is a few weeks before Christmas which is a bit of a nightmare!

I've ordered her way too much stuff(I started shopping early to spread the cost and ended up forgetting what I had bought).

So far we have bought her -

  • Nintendo 3ds plus games - all second hand (not even on her radar but she loves the games on her kidizoom camera but battery constantly runs out so this will get lots of use)
  • Barbie studio house with new barbie, Ken and Chelsea dolls (existing dolls looking a bit worse for wear)
  • Rainbow corn bow surprise
  • Rainbow corn sweet shake surprise
  • 2 x equestria girls dolls
  • Lol omg doll
  • Roller skates and knee pads (I want to start skating to get fit and know she'll want to do it too)
  • Loom bands
  • Pogo stick
  • Couple of new books
  • Modelling clay
  • Vtech watch
  • Gem stone kit
  • Couple of new family board games
  • Clothes

Will also get sweets, bath bombs, hair clips for stocking. And also some cheap crafts kit.
My mum has bought the Luvabella doll for her birthday and the camper van (and god knows what else as she always buys too much).

Its way too much I know. I did get some really good discounts on a lot of it though so didn't cost as much as you'd expect.

She'll get some for birthday and some for Christmas. Will probably get my brother/sister/mum to buy some of the extra gifts from me and they can give them to her rather than her getting even more stuff.

Oh and order to make room for new presents she needs to do a clear out - stuff either gets donated to her baby sister or charity or chucked in the bin.

@skankingpiglet

She plays with playmobil most of all, but she has more than she can play with at anyone time already - most of it is put away on top of her wardrobe. There’s the hospital, airport, zoo, camper van, beach, house, stable, fairyland, just off the top of my head!! The dollhouse really is fully equipped already and In any case is spurned for the playmobil these days.

Garden - I think she has everything! Swings, trampoline, playhouse, sand and water table. She sounds very spoilt but she has a large extended family who always ask for her birthday/Christmas lists and she doesn’t ask for much really.

What does the vtech watch do? She has a kids camera already.

My just turned 5 year old has not asked for anything specific at all this year, other than a Nintendo Switch, same for her birthday. It has me a little concerned that come December 23rd she will announce that she would like Santa to bring her something impossible to get hold of.

So far she has a new scooter, and some Playmobil bits for her hospital and horse farm.

Her stocking is sorted, hair bobbles, TY key ring, novelty pen and pad, unicorn mug, novelty plasters for her doctor kit, Lego dots bracelet, skipping rope, and a few other bits.

Siblings lists are endless.

JulietiSpaghetti · 11/11/2020 22:45

-A leotard to do gymnastics (she has never been to a class, she just fancies the idea)
-Bath bombs - She's obsessed!

  • light up trainers like her best friend has
  • the exact same lunchbox as her friend
  • everything her friend has, wants to swap houses and........
  • chocolate, sweets etc (most important, I think!)
skankingpiglet · 12/11/2020 08:25

@Lou573 from DD1, as I would just say time/games/camera: other than a watch [obvs!], it takes photos and videos, has an alarm, games, puzzles, maths, tracks how fast can you run in a minute, has the date, and you can change the backgrounds. Her friend Jack has reliably informed her you can download more games for it too 😂 (but we haven't tried this yet so I would check the technical spec for that!)

Mrsfussypants1 · 12/11/2020 08:46

Our 4 1/2 has asked for ;
Barbie careers ultimate kitchen
Barbie house (kidkraft wooden one)
A new kite
Whoopy cushion
Playmobil pethotel
A space helmet
Telescope
Bunny
The last three items are down to her current obsession with netflix Over the moon, Elsa has been dumped.
