Twig trees

I'm very disapointed, I've had a totally crap year (haven't we all) and I wanted to start christmas early as I need cheering up and it's just me and the cat this year, I work in the NHS so can't see any of my vulnerable relatives.
I bought an expensive twig tree from amazon because I don't like fake green ones or real ones in the house - too much mess.
Cost me £54 for a 4 foot one because the reviews said it was quality.
It arrived and it's rubbish, plastic and nasty, some of the branches were too fragile to put anythng on and half the lights were not working, the stem was leaning to one side and couldn't be fixed, it was awful.
I've sent it back but now feeling really low again. I just don't know what to put in it's place. Any ideas?

I got a lovely twig tree from John Lewis a couple of years ago, it is really beautiful. Maybe try there?

Definitely try again. I’ve had so many issues with Amazon that I’m more and more reluctant to buy from them except when I absolutely can’t get an item elsewhere. I suspect a lot of sellers start out with a quality product, garner good reviews and then sell cheap crap for a quick profit.

It’s going to be absolutely stunning in your living room when you get a good one, so keep going until you do!

It’s been a really hard year, and without meaning to be trite, it’s important to find lots of little ways to be kind to ourselves. Even in wartime the frontline could look forward to leave with their family and friends and brief pockets of normality. This crisis is grindingly hard. I completely understand how crushing it is to get your hopes up, even over a tree, right now.

Can you post a picture of the style you had in mind so we can help track down what you’re looking for?

Thank you. What I'm looking for is a 4 foot snowy or silver birch type twig tree with integral lights. I only have room for a 4 foot one.

We R Christmas have a 4ft one; I’m not sure if the trunk is too dark?

Amazon seems pretty unavoidable in this instance. Would you be willing to try a different seller (assuming you’ve got your money back)?

Or go for a flat wall hanging tree?

I have this one in my dining room. I bought it from an electrical trade supplier called CPC for £13.

It has a hideous plastic base and it looks a bit rubbish when you take it out of the box but it has a good trunk and looks great once it is arranged and decorated. I stand mine in a fresh foliage wreath (you could go with fake if you hate needles) with glass mushroom decorations to hide the base, then I hang 12 glass birds on the branches and some small baubles and glass hearts. I think it looks best with only a few decorations.

People always ask me where I got the decorations (Liberty) and their next question is, "Did you get the tree there too?". It's not the best quality but it is still going strong after 5 years and nobody seems to notice it is a cheapy!
