Does anyone else always have pork pie for breakfast on Christmas Day, or is my family just a bit odd? 🙂

We don't do breakfast on Xmas day unless you count chocolate coins and quality street Blush

It's a yes from me and i am vegetarian.Grin

Btw has anyone found an acceptable veggie version?

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 05/11/2020 21:05

Odd.

But not that odd. It is, after all, cured pork meat encased in carb, just like a bacon butty.

Mustbethewine · 06/11/2020 03:24

Its christmas. No rules 😅

I’m from Melton Mowbray so yes it’s a thing in my house. We’ve also been known to have them at weddings, christenings, wakes, in fact any family gathering Grin

Speaks but our family are from Leeds, not Leicester. Maybe that's the odd bit...

ChaosMoon · 06/11/2020 05:05

That should say always, not speaks. 🤦

Yes!!! Love that tradition! Cheeky glass of the cocktail ‘cool shower’ that my dad makes with a bit of pork pie in the kitchen with my mum...prob not the same this year tho 😕

fallfallfall · 06/11/2020 17:48

french canadian tourtaire. pretty basic in quebec as a breakfast.

Wishihadanalgorithm · 07/11/2020 00:18

Yes to pork pie for Christmas breakfast. My mum was from Newcastle and my dad from Coventry so not sure who introduced the tradition but every year we had it and I still serve it today. DP thinks this is THE best breakfast ever! Grin

My DH does this too. The rest of us refuse. He's from Lincoln tho not Leicester!

He eats it with piccalilli if there is any (yuk)
