My cousin's daughter is 13, and she and I have been old-fashioned pen pals since she was 9 (I live in a different country and she gets a massive kick out of receiving proper snail mail through the letterbox).
She's very quiet, introverted, thoughtful, and observant – the kind of kid you could easily forget was in the room until she interrupts your conversation with a really incisive question.
She's starting to really think about who she is and what matters to her, and so for Christmas I've got her a journal and covered it with fabrics and pictures of things she likes and collaged her name into the front.
Inside, I want to write some questions as writing prompts, or things to draw, or activities to do –so I thought I'd pop in here to crowdsource some ideas. I know there are books out there that are already a bit like this, but I wanted it to feel personal for her, so she knows she's seen.
Some questions might be a bit political, others about what matters to her, things she wants to remember...
If you were to add a prompt to her journal, what would it be?
