Ipad or Samsung tablet for 16 year old?

I’m about to go and buy a tablet for dd, at the moment I’m thinking ipad as she already uses iPhone and I have a iPad. She needs it to do school work on (A level English lit), she has a laptop but says typing hurts her hands, she has hypermobility and pain in her hands so says typing on her phone is easier than a keyboard/laptop. I can only just afford the cheapest ipad (basic 8 generation) but she’s saying she would need the pro for when she goes to uni. Are their other options of tablets or is ipad going to be my best bet (not the pro). It is for Christmas but obviously is schools close I will need to give it to her early which is why I want to buy ASAP.

Any advice?

iPad is much better. They last for years as well. Plus if she has an iPhone then it's better to have an iPad as all her messages etc will sync. You can use an apple pencil with them too so there's not really much they can't do that the Pro can.

Thank you, I went to curry’s and they have no iPads in stock (other than the pro), apparently there’s a national shortage and Apple don’t have stock until next month.

I'd recommend the iPad as I much prefer it personally. My dad has a Samsung tablet and I just don't like it so much, plus he's had so many issues with it. This is his third as the others had to be replaced by Samsung due to issues.

The Apple website have the normal iPad, but not delivered until end of November. The Air is available sooner. John Lewis have the air available but the iPads are out of stock. Argos had some in stock for delivery and collection.

She doesn't need the Pro. I have the pro- I like gadgets! But it does nothing different to the others.

Dd has done to university and she has an iPad mini. She does have a different computer for work, but uses her mini a lot, and takes it into university for her seminars, etc. She is getting a keyboard for it at Christmas to make note taking quicker, and is trying out my Apple Pencil too.

The pro doesn't really do anything different. It's just bigger.

Don’t buy a Samsung galaxy tab A. I bought one and it’s not compatible with a memory card, even though there is a slot for one, so we can basically save nothing on it as there is not enough memory.

I bought an iPad from studio a couple of days ago. iPad 2020 10.2. They advised 10 days for delivery. Go for the 128gb version.

Was the fastest delivery I could find.

Thank you, I have ordered directly from Apple (ipad 8), hopefully she will be pleased with it. Delivery is for end of the month or first week of december.

Studio have emailed to say they actually don't have stock. Ordered through Apple now.
