How many games?

I've got my 8yo DS a Nintendo Switch for his main gift. He's definitely getting minecraft, but will be getting a few other games too to try to prevent him obsessing too badly. He has ASD and we already get this with minecraft on the tablet!

I'm wondering how many games people would typically get to go alongside the console? They'll obviously be able to be grown with time, but he has a November birthday and we don't do gifts like that just because. I'm going to look at second hand games (he won't know the difference) but I'm trying to set myself a cap to prevent me getting too carried away!

Any game suggestions are also very welcome :)

We’ve got a switch for ds9 for Christmas. It came with one of the Mario games plus we bought minecraft too as he’s played that on his cousins console and really likes it.

We’re not actually buying any more games for now and have even decided not to tell my family he’s getting the switch (it’s his first console) as otherwise he’d likely get lots of new games or vouchers for it. I know some might think that’s a bit mean but he will be limited in how much time he’s allowed to spend gaming and I don’t want his other interests to fall by the wayside so figure two games is enough to start with!

I believe in their age group the Super Mario games are popular, also Crash Bandicoot, Luigis Mansion, fifa etc.
