Easy games to play at the table with older teens

We usually play the game where we each have a post it note on our forehead with a famous persons name and have to work out who we are by asking questions.
Quite simple and fun.

I need more ideas or easy games. Especially considering what Christmas may be like this year with limited socialising.

Cards against humanity, what do you meme, any big potato game.

Dilbertian · 31/10/2020 16:43

Card games: Cards Against Humanity, Exploding Kittens, Uno (no holds barred), Rummy, Knock Down Whist, Chase the Lady - most card games, really.

Pen & Paper games: Consequences (yes, all my teens still enjoy it) Pictionary (you don't need the boxed game, just a timer and a kids' dictionary.

Board games: Forbidden Island, Labyrinth. I'm buying Carcassonne this years, after a mill in recommendations for it here on MN.

Not strictly a table game: the Taskmaster boxed game. Sheer insanity! Grin

When you say 'at the table' I'm assuming you mean over Christmas lunch so you may not have a lot of space?

B&M has loads of cheapo card based games, ie one where you are asked 'would you rather' type questions. I've bought that for DD6. I've also splashed out on the Robin Reed crackers suggested by a PP in another thread, pricey but with racing penguins in one set and hand bells in another. Everyone has a bell and there is a conductor and it looks utterly hilarious trying to perform Christmas songs with everyone taking part. I really think these will elevate Christmas for us!

gingerbreadfox · 05/11/2020 07:17

If these are your DC please do not play cards against humanity! From their point of view that must be such an embarrassing game to play with parents! I can only play it with super close friends

What about UNO?

DonLewis · 05/11/2020 07:19

Secret Hitler is fab. Needs 5 players though.

jamaisjedors · 05/11/2020 07:22

There's a kid's version of cards against humanity which is still funny, i downloaded it in last lockdown

MaidenMotherCrone · 05/11/2020 07:22

Poker

Lancelottie · 05/11/2020 08:50

Oh god, the handbell Christmas crackers... There’s always one note that doesn’t fit the tune, and you find yourself playing Jingle Bells in a mournful minor key that sticks in everyone’s head for the rest of the day.

Yep, definitely recommend!

jomaIone · 05/11/2020 08:57

I have no idea what this game is called but it's so fun!!

Each person in the group writes down 5 names of celebs/people you know/anyone really on bits of paper, they all go in a bowl. Teams of 2 people. Take it in turns to pick names out of the bowl, and guess. Each round finishes when there are no names left in the bowl. Scoring by correct answers. 1 minute per team.

Round 1 - describe each person without saying the name, obviously!
Round 2 - mime the person, no speaking
Round 3 - say 1 word to describe the person.

It's hilarious, cause you know what names are in there by round 3, but it's still so frustrating. A very fun game which my family play all the time!

BlueChampagne · 05/11/2020 11:28

We call it "The Name Game", jomalone.

ihatethecold · 05/11/2020 21:08
