Luxury candles

Hi, DM seems to have got into posh candles so was thinking of a nice set for Christmas and Jo Malone were the only luxury ones I knew of but was a little Hmm at €60 odd per candle. I'm happy to spend around €100/£90 but want more than one candle and possibly a hand cream to show for it.
Any other good brands I should look at?

Byredo do some lovely ones. I like Skandinavisk and St Eval too.

My favourite ever candle was from Ted Baker of all places, but it's been discontinued now.

I love the skandinavisk Skog candle - it honestly smells like you're in a danish forest or something.

Ooh I've been hankering over the Skandinavisk candles...

St Eval candles are great but not a treat or luxury candle.
Get her a large Diptique candle. I love nice candles and hate it when people give me shit ones. Why bother!

If you have a molton brown outlet close to you they do a 3 wick for about 42 and small for 20ish. The dw home ones from tk maxx are amazing too

I adore these candles and their reed diffusers are gorgeous too.

I like Jo Malone, Jo Loces, White Company and also the Oskia rise massage candle - you. Urn the candle and then you use the oil to massage over your skin - it's very lovely if that's your thing

Diptyque are the only candles I have ever tried that actually smell nice and give a decent scent throw, all the others have been disappointing.

@TheSeedsOfADream Was it Arran Aromatics? Their after the rain scent is lovely.

I love Neom. Their 'Scent to make you happy' and 'Scent to Sleep' smell amazing. But they are pricy.
I've also tried their massage candle and thought it was so worth the money. I was going to ask for a candle for Xmas but think I'm going to go for one of their essential oil's instead

Thanks to PP for posting about the Black Friday Deal!

Anyone know of any good neom dupes?

I have had Jo Malone candles in the past. V nice.
Recently I bought a M&S “Apothecary” candle which makes my house smell like a spa. It’s very nice! Worth trying and not too dear (maybe test out yourself before determining if it’s posh enough for your DM).

I love the candles from The Little Yorkshire Candle company, the scents are amazing - I've got the Midwinter one on the go at the moment. I think the packaging is really nice too thelittleyorkshirecandlecompany.co.uk/

As others have said Dyptique really is the best. However True Grace are also wonderful and a big step up from Jo Malone in my opinion. Their flagship store is in Burlington Arcade but they also sell in Fortnums and elsewhere

Cire Trudon for me, Diptyque or Neom for me. Also, wouldn't it be lovely if we could have at least one candle thread where someone doesn't feel the need to comment on what an extortionate waste of money nice candles are or why people spend their money on them?

@Nightswimmin, just bought that one, can't wait to try it.

@TammyTwoSawnson, always wanted to try this one but had a sniff of it in Selfridges at Trafford Centre last year and could barely smell it so never bothered.

Neom or Sandy Bay. Can’t go wrong with those :)

I swear by Diptyque, but whatever you get, do make sure she's able to exchange it if she wants a different scent!

@lotusbell I've got the reed diffuser as well, and they're really good. Plenty of scent!

Diptyque is my go to. If you can wait, it's likely you'd get 10-20% off at Space NK/John Lewis/Liberty around Black Friday.

Again, I'd rather one Diptyque/Neom/Skandinavisk candle than lots of other ones.

TK Maxx very occasionally have Neom candles. Diptyque are lovely - currently have a feu du bois and can smell it over 3 floors when it's lit.

DH treated me to the Skandinavisk Hygge candle for my birthday earlier this month. I haven’t lit it yet but it smells divine!

I really like the White Company candles, especially their botanical Winter one.

Might put a Diptyque one on my Christmas list, I’ve never tried one before Grin
