How will you be decorating your cake this year? Or from previous years?

I need some inspiration! I am not skilled at all but do like having a pretty cake!

This was my most recent effort.

That is very cute! I just made my first ever xmas cake and it is a square one so I am planning to decorate it like a blue present. So just cover it in blue icing and white 'ribbon' icing. If it looks a bit bare I might add some white snowflakes if I can find a cutter.

I looked on Pinterest for design ideas, there is loads on there (and they all look amazing!)

There is a cutter that has three sizes. It looks great on Christmas cakes. I can’t remember who makes it but think I might have bought mine in the Range. Lakeland have a lovely one with trees.
I did a wreath last year with holly leaves, berries, pine cones and hazel nuts.

We shall be attempting this from Nigella Christmas, complete with plastic decs which once belonged to my Nan. The icing looks pretty forgiving which is a bonus as DD10 will be doing it!

These are mine from the last 3 years. Hope they give you some inspiration. Made everything myself, cake, marzipan and fondant, so much nicer than shop bought.
Made a couple of small ones too as gifts.

I've done Christmas cake decorated with different sized stars and silver balls in dotted lines before, very easy. Dusted some of the stars with edible glitter before putting on. Classy yet dead easy which is my baking mantra, especially at Christmas
