@TheCrow - thanks for that! I'm pretty shocked! She had a sample Dork diaries which she enjoyed which was why I was going to get her the first book. Crossing that off now!

How about a kindle if she loves reading? Loads of free books or can sign up for kindle unlimited.

My dd is 8 she is getting
Hatchimals hatchiwow llama,
Lol omg dolls,
Various small lol dolls and the clubhouse.
Scratch art,
Llama Teddy from build a bear,
Harry potter lego,
Descendants dressing up costumes.

She also likes games - exploding kittens, monopoly, payday are all favourites here. Playing her Nintendo ds or dh's switch. She loves a dress up costume. Lego friends and dots went down very well on her birthday (you can get 2 dots sets for £13.50 instead of £26 in argos. They are in 2 for £15 and the 10% off lego code stacks). Colouring books and big box of sharpies.

@Sodamncold We bought the Bee Ball official height netball post from amazon. Currently £59.99. Still going strong 5 years later although the net has now gone.
Get a pump too as I’ve order netballs and they need pumping up when they arrive.

@Londoncatshed
Is it really sturdy?
Will also be used by my older son

We're going for things to do rather than things this year so she's getting:

  • A day at Legoland Christmas
  • An afternoon 'zoo keeper for a day' experience

As her main presents and a couple of CDs for the CD player in her room, plus the usual socks, chocolate coins etc. She's with her dad for actual Christmas this year and we have a lot of family who send her things so she really isn't in need of 'stuff' from us!

usernamewastaken · 22/10/2020 17:37

This VR 'educational' head set and the 'Cube':

@Sodamncold yes. It’s very study. Has also been left outside for 5 winters so we’ve not exactly looked after it. You fill the base, I think with sand. Only thing that has happened is the net has gone.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 22/10/2020 19:35

@lostandlonely2020 I've been stalking Facebook disney groups and marketplace. Have alerts set up on ebay and schpock. Got her mal and evie for £10 each (these were her birthday gift), a mal coronation dress for £8 and uma for £25. Also found the dolls this way, only paid £5 each for them.

Spied · 22/10/2020 19:43

'Adopt' an animal from the nearest zoo and pay for the package to have dd's name on the enclosure and tickets for us to visit.
Made a great weekend away too as we stayed overnight.
DD thought this very 'wow'.

GentlyGentlyOhDear · 22/10/2020 20:20

I'm following this too! DD so tricky at the minute! She wants things for her room mainly. So far I've got/am getting:
*cushions and throws
*fairy lights
*Harry Potter Dobble game

  • lots of craft materials and activities including air drying clay, baking kits, pens, paints etc *candle making kit and science gemstone kit *fat face hoody and dress She did mention wanting a polaroid camera but hasnt mentioned that for a while.

Designafriends are great, we only have one Doll but a few accessories, far better quality than Our Generation accessorises. The designafriends stuff are mainly made of wood and last better than most of the our generation stuff. We have a few our generation dolls but I think the designafriends seem so much better in variety. The price has really jumped up on the designafriends recently though.

P.s I’ve deliberately avoided showing my DDs 6 & 8 the new designafriends dolls, they look too good and will also end up on their lists 😬

Ravel tails .... Look so cool

user27378 · 23/10/2020 02:14

I know a previous poster suggested a Kindle, but just wanted to check that you know there is a Kindle for kids that is just an e-reader and not a tablet.

Ltdannygreen · 23/10/2020 06:36

@Bid876
I didn’t initially even know about them it’s only because thanks to you tube she went on and on about them and I’d already got all of her birthday presents when she told me about them, so after her birthday with her money she had recieved she brought one with accessory’s and I was very impressed. She’s told me around 5 more she wants. I’m also getting on for my little sister who’s 6 for christmas as she loves dolls too 😊

Bid876 · 23/10/2020 11:22

@Ltdannygreen I was the same, I knew OG ones, it was only when I was going through the argos website my 6yo DD stopped me getting all excited as one of the dolls looked like her as it had a bob. Like you her birthday had just passed but we ended up getting her it during lockdown as a reward for how well she was coping. I think Argos are pushing them now to compete with the OG ones x

YourStarlessEyes · 26/10/2020 07:00

My 8 year old has requested a few Polly Pocket sets! She has also mentioned jigsaws, 3D puzzles, music CDs and books.
