Does anyone know if it can recover from an immersion in water 🙈
Early gift to my poor covid positive and pregnant dd... and she washes it first time in full basin of water.
We have it in rice on the radiator...

Oh no, poor DD! Immersed in rice and a warm spot for AGES will hopefully do the trick.

WishUponAStar88 · 21/10/2020 17:56

The base (that’s attached to the plug) or just the top bit?

Isadora2007 · 21/10/2020 19:24

The top bit

The top bit should be ok? Does it work again now?

Isadora2007 · 22/10/2020 09:50

No 😭 it’s like a cordless kettle and has element bit at the bottom which I think has gotten wet and short circuited...
I’m gutted- as is she- can’t afford a new one for her. I’ve emailed their customer services to ask for advice. Fingers crossed they can help.

Oh no. So sad. Fingers crossed you can get it working. Maybe a local repair shop type place might be able to help for a reasonable fee if Hotel Chocolat can't?

Isadora2007 · 22/10/2020 12:27

That’s a good idea @livingthegoodlife

Maybe I should sell it on eBay not working but just to look nice in a posh kitchen! 😂

They’ve replied asking us to send a video so we will see what they can do. Fingers crossed for a Christmas miracle. 🌟🤞🏻

Fingers crossed

@GazingAndGrazing @livingthegoodlife @WishUponAStar88

I am delighted to announce that the Christmas miracle occurred and the overnight rice and heat combo has fixed the Velvetiser!!!

Dd has promised faithfully to not wash it so thoroughly ever again! I am just hoping my taste returns so I can try one of these much adored hot chocolates soon!!! Bloody Covid.

Amazing!

DuskandSummer · 22/10/2020 18:37

Hooray. If anyone else happens to do this, the bottom has little non slip plastic lugs beneath which are screws, carefully remove and you may be able to dry it out effectively (We have previously managed to rescue ours! Halloween Grin)

GazingAndGrazing · 22/10/2020 19:48

Hooray!! So pleased Smile

Beaversevers · 10/09/2024 11:52

Removed the bottom of the unit and dried with a hair dryer for 5-10 minutes. This sorted mine out.
