Decent spy kit

DS (9) is very into spies at the moment And I’d like to put a spy kit together for him for Christmas.
But lots of the ones I’ve found look a bit naff and as if they’d be disappointing.
I don’t mind putting a bit of effort in myself to put something together if anyone as any recommendations?

Magnifying glass
Invisible ink and pen
Fingerprinting kit
Code book

I'll come back if I think of anything else.

Whatever you do you have to add The Official Spy's Handbook to the kit. First came out when I was a girl 30 years ago and has been reprinted over and over again. It has great illustrations lots of spy things to do that are perfect for a nine year old and it's brilliant.

Melissa and Doug have a spy decoder set as well as a fancy dress costume. Both on Amazon for reasonable prices.

I did this for my dd at a similar age.

I found a small metal briefcase. I think it came with a roulette set or something.
Pipe (this was her favourite thing)
A few pairs of glasses (obviously one with the classic fake nose and eyebrows attached)
Moustache on elastic
A whistle that made a bird call (rspb)
Notebook with attached pencil
Morse code print out
Trilby
binoculars
Book on codes (possibly usbourne)
Passport
Currency from different countries

Chalk - for leaving trails

The Usborne spy (and detective) handbooks are the best ever!
Be prepared to be asked for matchboxes etc! Grin
You need an invisible ink pen- Smiggle or science museum shop have these.
