Am thinking DS would love this. Anyone bought one? Think its Fisher Price - worth it?

have asked the same question on here before, and the general opinion was that the picture quality was awful.

No-one has yet come up with an alternative though. Ds aged 4 would love one.
Will be watching this to see if anyone comes up with anything for you (and me)

Ds has the Fisher Price one and although the pictures aren't the best he adores his camera and loves the fact we can download it onto the computer and he can view the pictures he took. I didn't think the picture quality was horrendous and I didn't expect it to be on par with our camera anyway. He loves his camera and I'm so pleased we got it for him.

we bought dd1 a cheap digital camera that cost us £30, we decided that 2 of these would be better value than the 1 fisher price one. She actually takes quite good photos and would now be disapointed if they weren't good quality. this one

There was a thread the other day saying that Avon was selling girls' digital cameras for £10, if that helps?

omeN666 · 14/10/2007 08:51

Ds is 4 and I have just got the v tech one for xmas from elc as had 20% off voucher. Still expensive but seems better of the 2 on reviews and it also plays games etc.

fairyfay · 14/10/2007 08:53

I think you can buy online at avonshop.co.uk

Eddas · 14/10/2007 09:02

woolworths have some. Prices start from£10, in which case you may not be worried about the picture quality It's page 500ish in the catalogue. I was looking at one for dd but decided against it as she's a bit too young and any old plastic one will do her for now just checked and they are on their website.

Beadgirl · 14/10/2007 09:12

We bought one for DD from Next last year - £15- it was crap, really really crap!
I wouldn't recommend the Avon/Woolies ones either but the Fisher Price one and the VTech ought to be better.

ChasingSquirrels · 14/10/2007 09:27

ds1 had my parents old one last xmas (4y3m), I would recommned getting a cheaper proper one rather than a kids one, I think someone linked to a 5megapixel one for £20. Try a search, the thread was in the last month I would think.

DD got the fisher price one for her b'day this year. excellent present! she loves taking pics of anything! we have shots the the plane insides - kept her quiet for hours on the plane trip! Pictures are ok - not fab but a great introduction for phots. she took some really lovely ones that we'd never have taken because the light wasnt right or something. but she clicked away and some came out fab. so if you can get one, then go for it. it's not all about the pic quality just the pic itself it lovely. we mainly view them on the pc anyway so quality not that imporatnt. Enjoy!

eleanorsmum · 14/10/2007 09:29

meant to say, its so easy to use too!

wangle99 · 14/10/2007 19:40

Was thinking of going for the fisher price one as that had got good reviews, DS has a tendency to drop stuff so don't think a 'proper' one would be much good as it would break!

I will check out the other ones you've mentioned though - thank you!

Last christmas all the reviews that I read for the fisher price one were awful, we got a cheap ordianry one and dd can take reasonably good photos with it, she can even take out the memory card herself and put it in the pc and we then help her downloading them, its been dropped a few times also and still works fine and was a lot cheaper than the fisher price once. DD was 4 when we bought it for her and it was the best christmas present she had and has used it loads.

wangle99 · 14/10/2007 21:16

Ah just found loads of bad reviews saying picture quality is cr*p, hmmm really think DS would love it, will have to investigate cheaper real cameras.

Thanks!
