I am at a total blanks to what to buy my 3 year old for Christmas. He says he wants Spiderman. He should be starting school next year. He loves dinosaurs but we have so many. I prefer wooden toys but not set on them.

What are you buying your three year old?

My almost 3 year old is so far getting a framed picture of a donkey (big fan of donkeys) for her bedroom and Sylvanian family figures.

She also needs new pad of drawing paper.

Bit stuck for more ideas. Last year the scooter we got her was a bit too big and difficult for her but she adores it now.
Does your son have a scooter? That would be my best suggestion.

BrandoraPaithwaite · 20/10/2020 08:27

Your Ds would probably like Spider-Man pyjamas, toy figures and spider man comics and colouring books.

OkyDoke · 20/10/2020 08:27

We do have a scooter but it may be a bit small! I will drag it out later and check. Hes never really used it though!

My mum splashed out and got her a micro scooter that was on special offer. It's a really good one and adjustable I think it lasts them til they are about 7. On special offer it was about £70 and her main present.

WellTidy · 20/10/2020 08:31

What about something musical like a keyboard?

Or something for the garden like a football and a goal?

OkyDoke · 20/10/2020 08:36

We've got the set of Superhero dolls that was in the Sainsburys toy sale which includes spiderman so I'm hoping that will be a hit!

Pyjamas are a great idea, will look for those! The child is a giant though, so hopefully they go up to 6 to 7! Thank you @BrandoraPaithwaite

Will think about a keyboard @WellTidy im pregnant and due in Feb so will decide if I'm up for something so noisy! Got a goal otherwise that would be great too.

Aldi are doing a toy event later this week, selling a lot of wooden toys. The ones we got for my DD last year are quite nice.

sophs29 · 20/10/2020 08:48

My little boy is 3 in Feb and obsessed with paw patrol so for Christmas I've got him paw patrol jigsaw puzzles (from Argos and the works) I got a bumper crayola set as I'm hoping he'll get more into drawing etc, a wooden train set, a paw patrol umbrella and some paw patrol wellies!
It's such a lovely age as they know so much more about Christmas and presents etc!

Equimum · 20/10/2020 09:08

At that age, both of mine loved Magformers (and still do at 5 & 7). They are a similar wooden toy, so several options along the same lines.

The other popular toy was the Brio garage, roadway and train set.

JellyBelly78 · 20/10/2020 09:31

My son loved schleich animals, we grew his collection over the years to include a wooden barn and rescue centre, playmat and vehicles. He’s 9 now and still won’t part with them.
Games he loved at 3 were Pengaloo and Hisss card game by Gamewright.
Pengaloo has lovely wooden pieces, very cute!

JellyBelly78 · 20/10/2020 09:33

Hape wooden marble run also a hit but maybe need to be slightly older for that.

WellTidy · 20/10/2020 15:27

A farm set, which can be added to over the years. Maybe start off with a stable and some fencing and animals and a tractor?

A wooden train set will give you years and years of entertainment

A slide for the garden?

Twilightstarbright · 20/10/2020 19:45

DS is 3.5 and is getting a marble run, schleich animals, and contemplating a Yoto or Tonies player then will ask family to get him the stories to go with it.

Runforyourlifeitsagherkin · 20/10/2020 19:46

Aldi have awesome wooden toys online just now and instore starts on Thursday

Cornishmumofone · 20/10/2020 19:59

Does he have a bike? My nearly 4 year old loves her bike and wants a bigger one for Christmas

Scanner20 · 20/10/2020 20:07

Tool bench Melissa and Doug one with tool box, Vtech learning pad, Melissa and Doug puzzles, marvel puzzles and match cards along with some action hero's for stocking. That's what mine will be getting.

aToadOnTheWhole · 20/10/2020 21:06

This is a cross between last years birthday and Christmas and this year coming off the top of my head.

Duplo anything but specifically the cargo train (that can be linked to the tablet so it can be controlled)
Magformers
Hot wheels
Balance bike (convertible so wheels can be added)
Playmobil
Marble run.
Tool kit + dressing up outfit
Doctor kit +dressing up outfit.
Books
Jigsaws

He was Spiderman obsessed so costume, h&m do a lovely spiderman tracksuit too. Figurine that talks. Jazzy molded mask that lit up. I'm trying to remember but everything was Spiderman for a while Grin

22WR · 20/10/2020 21:08

These are some of the things my 3 year old son is getting /has had in the past:

Usborne Look Inside / See Inside books - they honestly keep him interested for ages
Magformers
Tuff tray and stand
Puzzle books (spot the difference etc)
Small world figures (Fisher Price little people)
Playmobil
Miles Kelly books

Blurp · 20/10/2020 21:10

At that age we went for a wooden train set, which he loved. We gradually added bits over the years as he got better at building it and wanted more complicated bits.

Blurp · 20/10/2020 21:12

Incidentally, we bought loads of stuff secondhand (Gumtree and Facebook mainly). It was all in really good condition. At that age they don't notice if it's not in a box.

If they turn out to not be that interested, you can sell it on and get most of your money back.

DaisyChainsForever · 20/10/2020 21:18

DS is getting a vtech camera and some more play mobil. He's been asking to take his own photos for ages, so hopefully he'll be able to work it!

peasando · 20/10/2020 23:12

My three (nearly four) year old DS is also obsessed with Spider-Man and is getting spider man PJs, pants etc. He's also recently got really into lego so he's getting quite a lot of that from various sources, as well as a couple of new bits for his Brio train set.

Otherwise we're mostly getting him smallish stocking fillers - books, play doh, colouring stuff etc.

He LOVES his balance bike so agree with PP that a bike would be a great present if your DS doesn't already have one.

Neolara · 20/10/2020 23:14

My DS lived in his Spiderman costume when he was three. Happy memories.

Mamagotskills · 20/10/2020 23:18

My 3yo boy is getting a bike, paw patrol plastic tat, some playMobil (police and fire), a crane

MrsPworkingmummy · 21/10/2020 05:39

If you like wooden toys, what about a Brio train set?

We are getting (have bought) our son a Bruder garbage truck, Bruder cement mixer, a JCB lights and sounds construction kit, a pack of hot wheels cars and a marble run.

For his birthday we bought him a balance bike which he adores.
