The m and s mushroom pie in the Christmas book looks lovely

Anna Jones has a lovely pie recipe in Modern Cook’s Year that could be made before then warmed on the day. She does a Christmas ebook too that I rate www.shop.annajones.co.uk/shop/anna-jones-christmas-ebook

Try BOSH ultimate nut roast or their mushroom wellington. I make it in November/Early December on an empty Sunday and freeze ready for Christmas Day. The nut roast is a lot better than the supermarket ones I've tried

Parsnip, cranberry & chestnut loaf. I make this every year, it goes well with the usual roast potatoes, sprouts etc. side dishes. Can be made a day or two in advance, and I no longer make the cranberry sauce from scratch, just use a jar Grin.

There's a few nice suggestions over on this thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/food_and_recipes/4039565-Veggie-main-for-Christmas-Day-ideas-needed

@WhereYouLeftIt do you just use one whole usual sized jar? Thinking this looks good, but I usually make my own cranberry orange and vodka sauce and cannot be arsed to make two!

Equimum · 21/10/2020 07:17

We always have mushroom Wellington (& a Quorn roast for the kids).

WhereYouLeftIt · 21/10/2020 16:29

@HelenaJustina one jar is plenty, you only use a third of what the recipe asks you to make inside the actual loaf and two thirds is served on the side.

Your sauce sounds fab! Grin
