Hover board/ Go Kart

I was thinking of getting ds (11) a hoverboard with kart attached but on the write up they are saying 15years plus. Has anyone had one or something comparable at this age. He does have a learning disability and he wouldn’t be able to stand up on the board itself but he loves driving. Wouldn’t want anything too big or too fast either.

My 6 and a half year old is desperate for one and I'm going on the recommendation from a friend who bought one last year for her child who was the same age. It was a massive hit and her child has coped fine with it.
Also getting the go cart attachment.
I've buying it from hoverboard uk- they have live chat on their website which has been really helpful. Maybe try that for advice from an expert? Smile

Thanks for replying @winesolveseverything don’t suppose you could link me to hoverboards uk. I’ve googled it and loads of companies came up 😬

Make sure you look into where he will be able to play with it. They are not legal in public spaces including parks. You can only legally ride them on private land with the owners permission.

We thought about one for ds, but for the price he wouldn't get much use out of it due to the legal restrictions.

DS has had one since he was 8/9 so he will be fine Smile

^^ This.

My local park is full of them, and there have been some nasty accidents where kids ram them into pedestrians. Even when that doesn't happen I'm sick of having to dodge them. Thankfully the police are starting to confiscate them.

Hedgyhoggy · 18/10/2020 16:26

We’ve got space at home for him to ride it.

We are going for the off road one which can be used on the grass in the field.

We bought one for our DS for his 12th birthday at the start of lockdown. His younger sister also goes on it. Mainly drives it around the house (annoyingly!) but there are a couple of places he can take it to outside. I think we bought it from the same place winesolveseverything linked. It did develop a fault after about a couple of months but they fixed it free of charge and it has been fine since then. It has been a v successful present.

My 8 and 10yos got hover karts last year and have been fine on them (as have all their friends). They struggled to balance on just the boards though.

The only issue is checking you've got somewhere to ride them legally.

Just seen this is a zombie thread - ignore me!

I bought my 7 & 9yos these this year. They love them. I got a balance stick also, mainly for my 7yo but she mastered the board within an hour.

7yo isn’t that keen on the go kart but 9yo loves it.
