Hi

Thinking about starting my DD off with some Sylvanian Families stuff for xmas. She has such a vivid imagination for her age.

Couple of questions: age guide is 4 +, do you think she's too young??? and where is the best place to get the best prices??

Thanks

How old is she ? tbh some of the bits are small but dd played wth a friend's much earlier than 4. TK Maxx often have some basic sets cheapish but it is hit and miss as to what/where.

Thanks for answering. She is 2 1/2, as i said she has such a vivid imagination, and there is so much to add to it, for relatives etc. Boots have got the house on their 3 for 2 at the mo, might be a good buy?? Will pop into TK MAXX and have a quick look- but that shop annoys me intensley, hate having to search for stuff.

Thansk again

my dd is just 7 and has only been into Sylvanian families for about 6 months.

Having said that, she has gone to school now and her 2 sisters(age 4 and 2) are in her room playing with her sylvanian stuff . The biggest risk is that the clothes/babies/pieces will get lost easily.

You may have to remove some small peices for a 2 1/2 year old. Argos is a very good place to buy the large sets as most of them come with exclusive accessory sets which makes them much better value for money.

DD is mad about Sylvanians - I think optimum age is 5-9 as the pieces are so fiddly and small. There is a good website here that often has special offers or new items and is very handy for gift buying for overseas family!!

We live near the Sylvanian shop. My but it's difficult to get out of there. lol

lomondgal · 16/10/2007 09:51

There are a lot of tiny bits, I used to have loads when I ws little. Am just thinking of getting them for my dd and she is almost 4.

janinlondon · 16/10/2007 09:51

Marslady can my DD come and live with you please?

pirategirl · 16/10/2007 09:54

I am not sure where's the cheapest, TbH my dd is 5 now and had been playing with them since about 3 1/2.

The basic stuf wil be fine for a 2 1/2 yr old, as long as she is not partial to putting things in her mouth. Beware tho, some sets, ie the sweet shop, have teeny weeny bots in that you need a magnifying glass to find!!

Have you considered Playmobile, my dd loves it, and its so robust, and there is plenty to add on to it. Some great role playing stuff, my dd has huge imagination also.!!

Dd has the playground, thats a good one.

MarsLady · 16/10/2007 09:54

but of course!

outinthesticksmummy · 16/10/2007 14:37

have looked a playmobil stuff, loads of boys stuff but not so much girls i thought. Will go have a look at the playground stuff now Just got a bargain - sylvanian families fiarground house from tk maxx for 24.99. Will have a look at how tiny they are and if too small sell it on??
