Help me find a wreath for my horrid front door!

I really want a wreath on my gross PVC door this year. But i have some problems - its a PVC door, and I live on a busy road that steps directly onto the street.

I thought about attaching a command hook of some kind inside and using thin wire/string over the door (thin enough to shut properly??) I am not sure this will work. Any other options?

Thank you!

That's pretty standard (though of course if someone really wants to pinch it they could cut the wire). It works best if you put the command hook on the back of the door upside down.

I got a set of these. Work fine with our pvc door.

I use a flat head pin at the top of the door (the bit you don’t see when it’s closed) holding a red ribbon that loops around the top of the wreath.

I use a cable tie to tie to our door knocker.

I think you'll be ok with a cable over the top of a pvc door, I shut our Christmas lights cable through a pvc window and it locks fine.

Just be prepared for theft.

I do the same as livingthegoodlife using a cable tie on the door knocker but there is a difference in quality - you get what you pay for. The old cable ties are secure but have to be cut to get it down and the cheapo ones are terrible as you can pull them to undo which is not secure. It takes several ties to make it secure enough to deter thieves which is a PITA.

Why don't you paint it if you hate is so much?
I did mine and I think it looks brilliant

Redwrecker · 16/10/2020 13:38

@2me2u2u2me because I am hoping to replace next year - would rather not waste money on the paint in the meantime!

I don’t have a door knocker unfortunately, theres nowhere on the door itsself that i can tie anything to.

I’m also not sure about attaching a pin in the frame @Thisisneverending, the inner frame is plastic too?

I won’t be buying anything too expensive, as its been pointed out, it could be nicked by anyone enthused to do so. The upside down comman hook may be the only route!

I do that on my door. I had 2 tiny windows at the top of the door so I had 2 sucker hooks on there in the inside and some of that clear fishing wire thread passed over the top of door and dangled the star in my case over the front. Worked pretty well. Suckers popped off occasionally. I guess command hooks would be more secure.

Twilightstarbright · 17/10/2020 07:41

I did an upside down command hook inside the door and ribbon/picture wire over the door.
