Camera for 7 year old.

I am looking at buying a camera for my daughter who will be 7.
I have looked around and a bit stumped. She is very in to photo taking especially of plants / rivers and animals.
People keep mentioning the instax ones but I think she is a bit snappy happy for one that prints auto. But the compact digital camera are not that much better than our camera phones are they ?
Any advice ?

Don't get an insta unless you want to spend a fortune on prints!

Mine got Samsung point and shoots at that age, they could put effects on the images and send them direct to their kindles.

Now they have phones they use those instead.

We got our 7 year old daughter a Kodak Printomatic. It's an instant camera but we got it because you can also put a memory card in and transfer pics to the computer. If you don't put paper in it, it just saves the picture to the memory card.
