Tablet recommendations

Hi,
Looking for 2 tablets for the kids it would be used for homework and roblox so ideally something that isn't slow and with a decent battery life. We had an abla one from argos but roblox drained the battery so often it was always on charge and took forever to charge.
I don't want ipads for them just yet and I don't think I want any of the amazon ones as I think they can be a bit restricted (please correct me if I'm wrong).
I'm currently eyeing up the Samsung A8 for them but not too sure, what would you suggest?

I've got my son an Samsung A8 for Christmas. He has a kindle too and I wouldn't recommend that for ayong Roblox as its so, so slow hence a new tablet, he's outgrown the kindle. I've seen some reviews on the A8 and they seem really positive!

iPad all the way for tablets, I brought a Samsung, total waste of money, ended up buying another iPad, no comparison between the two.

You're right about the Amazon ones being far too restrictive. My three year old got one for his birthday and I can't even put YouTube kids on it for him, which is his favourite. It's the biggest waste of money.

I bought a Samsung which is fine for accessing online school work but the one my kids turn to for games including roblox is an old ipad my sister gave us when she upgraded hers. I'm an android person when it comes to phones but I have to admit ipads have the edge for tablets.

my purse is crying... I can understand though I'm android all the way and treated myself to an ipad and I love it.
OK say I got an older version of ipad from the cex shop, wouldn't it be already be on its way out because apple makes its system slower gradually.. Hope I'm making sense.

The A8 does look very good though.. Hmm

I have had my Samsung Galaxy Tab for several years now and it has been brill. Charges quickly, battery life really excellent, no issues with it at all. My husband has an i-pad which he is very happy with but no happier than I am with the Samsung and the ipad was more than double the price.

Was just about to start a similar thread. Dd has just asked for a new tablet, she already has a kindle fire which is a couple years old but it’s not suitable for doing homework. She’s 16 and just started A level so I’m guessing she will need a ipad? She already has a laptop (which was mine) but says it’s too bulky. Not sure if a surface pro would be better than a iPad?

I think I will try the Samsung at least its a bit cheaper but it could be an expensive mistake . If I get an old ipad I think I would run into problems a with software.. I really dont know much about these things.

@Lovemusic33 I would have thought a laptop would be better because theres a lot of writing and research... A friend had the hp envy I think it's called.. I think it is called that its silver hp with touchscreen and she loved it!

She does have a laptop but it’s not touch screen, I don’t really want to replace it as it’s not very old, would rather hold out until she starts uni. I might just hold back a bit and maybe get her something different (or money). She also has a birthday not long after Christmas.

New xbox is coming out, way more powerful than a ipad

I bought a refurbed I Pad from them last year and have been very pleased.
We had a slight problem with the home button. They paid postage both ways, fixed it and returned it within three days.
