Can anyone recommend a salt lamp please? Or one to avoid?!? Ideally I'd like it pretty big with a dimmer switch. This is my last Xmas present to purchase!

Just keep in mind if you have cats they like to lick them and it makes them sick

mam0918 · 29/09/2020 13:02

yep these can be deadly if ingested in large amounts to practically all animals but cats specifically like to lick them as cats react to salt like we reacted to sweat things - should be kept away from dogs and small children too

Thank you all so much for replying and helping me!!

I bought a little one from here and it is beautiful. Sign up to newsletter and get 10% off too, I think.

Quick question for anyone who has a salt lamp - can you put them on a bookcase, so there's a shelf above it? Thanks

BF2748 · 06/10/2020 02:12

@birkenstocks4ever you can place them anywhere other than near moisture, providing you’ve not got animals or kids who can yank at them. As long as the area can withhold the weight it would be fine

birkenstocks4ever · 06/10/2020 06:29

@BF2748 fab, thanks

OP, I have two cats and they've never shown an interest in the lamp. It's on every evening upstairs and used a bit like a night light. It was just a mid-range one off Amazon.
