Hi, I'm after book recommendations that are funny or adventurous for my 9 year old daughter.
She loves diary of a wimpy kid books, Jeremy strong books, the beano, Tom gates, how to train your dragon, some David Williams and the truth pixie books.
She may be ready to move up a level to some longer, more adventurous and gripping stories if you know of any good ones.
Thank you! Xx

Definitely second a series of unfortunate events, I think I read the whole lot about 3 times when I was young!

sunshinestanley · 26/09/2020 18:28

Probably at the same level as your DD is currently reading but The Unlikely Adventures of Mabel Jones looks really good

Look at books by Sophie Anderson, the Pages and Co series by Anna James, the Jessica Townsend series Morrigan Crow. Katherine Rundell, The Mask of Aribella by banana Houghton and the Murder Most Unladylike series by Robin Stevens.

HelenaJustina · 26/09/2020 18:39

Definitely Murder Most Unladylike, my 9yr old bought herself the rest of the series with her birthday money.
Swallows and Amazons
Anything by Katherine Rundell (she is amazing!)
Eva Ibbotson
The Secret Cooking Club
Judy Blume
Just William
Jacqueline Wilson
Eoin Colfer

Thank you everyone, that'll keep me busy looking them all up. :)
Judy Blume was popular when I was younger and I'm mid 40's!!! Is she still popular now?
