First board games for 3 year olds

Can anyone recommend suitable board games for a 3 year old please? We haven't got a toy shop open nearby to look in, and when I googled it was hard to see which games would be suitable as a first introduction to playing a board game.

Orchard toys are brilliant! Shopping list and crazy chefs are our favourites, Altho might be a little ahead for a three year old to play properly. The rocket game one is fun too, and my little boy found it straight forward to play from quite young

Orchard Toys - Spotty Dogs is great

Both of mine started board games with OT Pizza Pizza, which is quick, simple and great fun. Other OT games soon followed.

For more active, silly games, the following were popular:
Pop Up Pirate
The ELC monkey balancing game
Hungry Hippos (NB small balls)
Splashy the Whale

Orchard toys are fab.

There's a gruffalo board game suitable for that age as well if you search for it on amazon should come up straight away x

There is a really good game by habo called orchard..u play as a team and have to harvest the fruit before the crow gets it.
Kids for some reason all go mad for pig goes pop.🙄

www.amazon.co.uk/Ravensburger-Masks-Team-Heroes-Game/dp/B078S7NZFQ/ref=sr_1_10?dchild=1&keywords=pj+masks+board+game&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1601443853&sr=8-10

we got this for our DS when he turned 4. Picked it up quickly and lots of fun (probably helped that he's a big PJ Masks fan atm). Its a co-op play rather than adversarial, so no need to worry about meltdowns when pieces are taken ( chess woes :(

Another Orchard Game Bus stop. Really goid fir learning the basics of adding & subtracting and I found it the least mind numbing!

My 2 year old loves Orchard games. She also plays a few advanced games with us. We love board games. The good choices are the magic labyrinth, baa baa bubbles, gravity maze, shiver, chickyboom and Libra Frog. All are marked for older children but we change the rules. I hope that helps.

The rocket game! I'd forgotten that. We loved that for ages!
Weve got the going on a bear hunt counting board game. My kids grew out of it years ago but wont be parted with it. It's very beautifully illustrated!

pop up pirate and buckaroo. Both require a bit of 'help' but DS loves them!

XiCi · 01/10/2020 20:42

Not a board game but dd loved pop up pirate at that age

Haba My First Orchard is perfect for that age. Co-operative rather than competitive and the playing pieces are robust enough to played with as well as be played in the game. A joy. 😍
